Bookies, new account offers and useful promotions

Ok so there are so many online bookmakers these days. I myself have tried many, mostly to take advantage of new account offers. Through doing this I have got a lot of free bets but also discovered that some bookies have better offers for certain bet types and competitions. I thought this could be a good thread to share this info, especially since we all live in different countries. I mostly use UK bookies, but I'm sure there must be some Australian, Canadian, Scandinavian and European bookmakers I haven't taken advantage of yet.
Just to get started recently I used unibet for the first time. When you deposit they match your initial deposit of up to £50. You do not have to place a £50 bet to receive the extra credit which is nice.
Paddy Power will also match a free bet up £25 (I think), but the good thing about them is you can place you free bet on the same thing as your initial bet so you can effectively "double down". Most other online bookies require you to clear your first bet first before you get the bonus, which is annoying if you wanna go all out on a particular selection.

£500 for a rainy day- A Beginners Guide to Matched Betting

I've been meaning to update this guide for a while and add in some elements about Matched Betting that people should be aware of before getting started. Here they are as follows:
(1) You can start with as little as £20 but ideally and for the sake of attaining more profit in a faster time, My Personal Reccomendation would be to start with £100-£200.
(2) If you are careless, you can make mistakes. Like with any task, you must give it the level of precision it demands, a mistake when entering figures will cost you real money. When you read the guide below you will see that the process is very simple, but that means you must take extra care not to become complacent.
(3) If you have a history with Gambling, do not come near Matched Betting. Matched Betting is not Gambling, but the fact you will be using betting websites to facilitate a profit is too much of a temptation- It's not worth it.
(4) Matched betting won't effect your credit rating, however it's common sense that it doesn't look good to have numerous transations to betting sites on your bank statement. Open a seperate virtual bank account for all your Matched betting activity (It only takes 5 minutes, details below)
With that being said, Matched Betting really is a solid way to secure £400-£500 in a very short time, it's the reason I was able to pay my first couple of month's rent when I moved to the UK and to this day still remains a handy way to pay the bills every month. Anyway, Below is the Guide:

Starting Out:
I was sceptical as hell about Match betting because a friend showed me the Facebook groups and it just looked like a giant gambling pyramid scheme. It turns out there is a decent chunk of change to be made from it, you just need to follow the guides and never ever actually gamble with your money.
Never ever Gamble? Yes That's right, you are going to be using Gambling sites to complete the various offers, but the whole idea behind match betting is that every time you "make a bet", you match that same bet on the exchange. So for example, if I bet £10 for Real Madrid to Win on the Bookie Site at odds of 2.5, I then also make a Matched bet on the Exchange (This is a separate site such as Smarkets or Betfair) where I bet for Real Madrid not to win at odds of 2.5 (or as close as I can get to those odds). In this way I am covered in all outcomes, and it allows me to fulfill the requirements of the bookies offer (For example Bet £10 and get £30 in Free bets)
What's the difference between the Bookie Site and the Exchange? On the Exchange Site you are basically being the Bookie and just like a Bookie, you have liability. If I bet £10 and my bet wins at odds of 2.5 then I win £25, so the bookies liability for this bet is £15, the extra money that they would have to give me if I win. There are calculators on the Match betting sites which you can use to calculate what Liability you need to enter on the exchange each time you make your matched bet. There is also software to help you find what games have the closest odds on both the bookies and the exchange, which is very important.
What do I do when I get my free bets? It's the same process again, You find a game that has very close odds on both the bookies and the exchange (You can do this by eye or by using odds matching software. A good site with this software is called OddsMonkey). Only this time when you use the calculator to work out your liability, you will set it to "Free bets SNR" so it knows you are not using real money. It will tell you how much Liability to use in the exchange and off you go.
How does this make me money? The fact that you have a free bet to use is what makes you money, For example a £30 free bet at odds of 5.5 in the bookies will win you £135 (30x 4.5, because the original free bet stake of £30 is not returned to you). Now let's say that the closest odds I can find in the Exchange for the same game are 6.0, I will need a liability of £112.50 to match my free bet in the bookies ( I use the calculator on oddsmonkey to work this out)
£135- 112.50 = £22.50 in Profit.
Alternatively if my bet on the exchange wins, I will lose the free bet of £30 (but it's not actually a loss to me because It's not real money) and I will win £22.50 on the exchange. Either way, I make a Profit of £22.50
What about providing card details? You can use a separate, virtual bank account for all your match betting, In this way your main banking information is not shared with any of the sites you sign up to and all of your match betting transactions never go near your main bank account. A good one to use is Revolut or Monzo, both apps are super easy to use and it only takes 5 minutes to open an account. It's also totally free to open.
Revolut: Referral (£15 referral scheme) Non Ref
Monzo non ref: https://monzo.com

Where can I learn to do it? There are some sites that you have to pay a monthly subscription to but I found one called Team Profit that is free and has a full guide of all the different offers you can complete.
I worked my way down through the list of offers, nice and handy, and having completed 20 offers at 15 minutes per offer, I came out at £470 for 5 hours total of work.
If you are new to this site and are opening a free account I would really appreciate if you use my Referral (£10)
Here is the non referral link to the page with all the offers: https://www.teamprofit.com/welcome-offers-list
TLDR: You do not need to "gamble" to match bet, in fact by definition, the bet you make is "matched" on the exchange, so it is not a gamble in any sense.
I hope this guide helps and hopefully might even get a few people out of a fix this month with bills, rent etc.
Thanks for Reading.

Wizard Tournament: Chapter 59

First | Previous | Next
“Well I’ve got to try something. I think Tenna’s going to try to face off against that robot and if she does it’s going to kill her unless I can convince it not to. I think she’s trying to work up the nerve. You saw her smoke that canne’ka stuff.”
Sylnya gestured for Draevin to follow. “Let’s walk.” The pair headed off in a direction Draevin quickly realized was aiming for the betting cages. Though he knew where they were, Draevin tended to avoid that section of the arena. “Don’t you think it would be easier to talk Tenna out of fighting?” Sylnya asked.
Draevin shook his head firmly. “I don’t think that would work. This is her first time making it to the second round and I know that’s a big deal for her. If I try to push her to drop out all I’m going to do is spoil our friendship.”
Sylnya gave Draevin a sideways look. “That’s… surprisingly perceptive of you.” She reached out a hand and smacked him on the forehead.
      “Hey!”
“Just making sure you’re not one of Peter’s illusions.”
“What? You don’t think I know what it’s like to have veteran contestants doubting you when you’re still new?”
“I just didn’t realize you knew how to put yourself in someone else’s shoes is all.”
They reached the edge of the mass of people surrounding the betting cages. It was truly the most eclectic mix of races anywhere around. Lizard-kin, dwarves, elves, eldrin, orcs… even a few humans were milling about! And on closer inspection Draevin saw a few gnomes flitting around in the gaps several heads lower to the ground then others. Sylnya was the only dryad. Beyond the crowd was a long section of wall with a window of metal caging separating the crowd from the Guild bookies. The atmosphere was always frantic and loud and today was no exception.
A tall orc stood on a platform among the crowd where he could cast a series of lithomancy spells to keep the board of numbers above the windows updated. As they approached someone from behind the window shouted something at him and he moved his hands in a practiced motion and Draevin saw the numbers next to his own name change. “They’re already taking bets on my match with Gro’shak? So soon? I just defeated Anise barely an hour ago.”
Sylnya shrugged. “Then they’ve probably been taking bets for at least that long. But don’t worry. The odds are in your favor and climbing.”
“Is that supposed to help me somehow?”
“Well you can bet on yourself. If you buy in now you can probably get a better pay-out than they’ll be offering tomorrow.”
Draevin wrinkled his nose. “That’s in bad taste.”
“Suit yourself.” Sylnya waved an arm up high and one of the bookies behind the window gave her a friendly wave. It was the only dryad working behind the counter, and she shooed away the customers in front of her to make room for Sylnya. Compared to Sylnya’s stringy vines, this dryad’s hair was a spiky cluster of what looked like grass. “Hey, Nim!”
“Syl! I saw your bet on that human go through this morning and I almost didn’t believe it!” The bookie, Nim apparently, reached her hands through the bar and Sylnya grabbed hers back and they started jumping up and down excitedly.
“Isn’t it great?” Sylnya said with a huge grin. “That kid is smart as a whip, I just knew he was gonna come up with something for that werebeast!” Nim pulled her hands back through the bars and gave Draevin a questioning look. “You know Draevin, right Nim? He’s just tagging along.”
“We haven’t been formally introduced, but I know of him, yeah.”
Draevin gave an awkward smile. “Consider yourself introduced.”
Sylnya put her ticket on the counter and Nim quickly snatched it up. “Right,” the slender grassy dryad said. “Let’s get you paid.” She studied the ticket for a moment and frowned. “Hmmm. It seems you’ve exceeded the cash limit.”
“Wow! Really? I haven’t done that in ages!
In a moment Nim’s eyes went from the flat seriousness of business to wide with emotion. “Exciting, right? You can withdraw up to the cash limit now if you like and we can transfer the difference to your bank. We still have your account information on file from last time.”
Sylnya shook her head. “That won’t be necessary—”
“Betting on yourself?” Nim finished. Sylnya didn’t even look upset at the presumption.
“You know it! I can chat more after my match, but Drae and I have one more errand to run before then.”
Nim gave Sylnya a smile as she quickly filled out another ticket and handed it over. “Don’t worry about it, I know you’re busy.” She bobbed her head at Draevin. “Nice meeting you, Drae. Good luck on your match, Syl.” Without any further farewell Sylnya led Draevin in stepping away from the window and a seedy-looking dwarf quickly pushed forward to take their spot. “Weg!” Draevin heard Nim saying just as warmly as she had to them, “I heard about your bet on…”
“I don’t like that girl,” Draevin grumbled as he pushed their way out of the betting crowd. “She’s too nice.”
“Too nice?” Sylnya asked. “Really? Is that why you like me so much? Because I’m rude to you all the time?”
“At least you’re honest about it.”
They reached the edge of the crowd and Sylnya brought them to a stop. “They’re going to be calling my match soon; do you still want to go see that robot?”
Draevin lowered his brow and pushed past Sylnya. It was time for him to lead now. “Of course I am. What made you think I was going to change my mind in the last five minutes?”
“Hope?” he heard her say questioningly from behind while he forged ahead without her. “How do you even know you can have a conversation with that thing? You know it doesn’t have a handler, right?”
Draevin headed into the main arena. He’d seen Unit-17 resting on top of some storage boxes right above the service tunnel the contestants used. It’d been there every day without fail observing the matches and so far he hadn’t seen anyone approach it. It was perched in an area not used for crowd seating but even the Guild had apparently not wanted to move the shiny robot. “Well if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work,” Draevin hedged as he walked down the steps to the quiet corner the robot was sitting in. “I hardly think it will hurt just to ask.”
Sure enough, Unit-17 was sitting right where he’d expected to find it. It wasn’t floating like it normally did, but its single glass eye was glowing with a dim inner red light. The robot was an unremarkable roundish shape with thick plates of metal fixed to the surface all around to hide whatever was inside. It did seem to have a decent view of the grounds from where it had chosen to perch itself. Draevin approached the machine and cleared his throat. He waited what he thought was a polite amount of time but it did not react to his presence at all.
“Unit-17, I would like to discuss something with you,” he tried instead. He wasn’t sure if it even cared about politeness, but he decided to play it safe.
The red light behind its singular eye brightened a hair. “This unit will not discuss any classified information,” a hollow synthesized voice echoed out from within the machine. “Are these terms acceptable, contestant Draevin?”
Draevin pulled his neck back a bit in surprise. “You already know my name?”
“Are these terms acceptable, contestant Draevin?” the robot repeated.
“Yeah,” Sylnya muttered in Draevin’s ear, “I can tell this conversation is going to be reeeeal productive.” She jerked her thumb behind her. “I’ll be close by, come get me when you’re done.”
Draevin nodded his agreement and answered Unit-17’s question. “Yes, those terms are acceptable.”
The red light in the robot’s eye flickered briefly. “Contestant Draevin has been given level zero access,” it announced. Draevin wasn’t really sure what that meant but it didn’t sound like a bad thing. “You may now proceed. What is your inquiry, contestant Draevin?”
“I was hoping we could make a deal.”
The robot slowly turned until its eye was looking right at Draevin before responding. “This unit is prepared to make any deals that increase its probability of success,” it finally said in its synthesized monotone.
“Are you familiar with the concept of Mutual Assurance?” Draevin asked the robot.
“Mutual Assurance: An agreement between dueling wizards to inflict non-lethal injuries on each other—sometimes insured through extra punitive measures by the Wizard’s Guild. This unit is familiar with the concept of Mutual Assurance.”
“Great,” Draevin said. “So I want to make a Mutual Assurance pact between you and—”
“Declined,” Unit-17 interrupted. “This unit calculates that a Mutual Assurance with contestant Draevin will reduce the probability of victory in the tournament by zero point three two percent.”
Draevin scowled at the machine but got no reaction. “You didn’t let me finish. I wasn’t trying to arrange a Mutual Assurance pact with me.”
The robot’s eye briefly flickered. “This unit is prepared to make any deals that increase its probability of success. What is your inquiry, contestant Draevin?”
Draevin sighed. “Like talking to a brick wall. Uhh… will ‘this unit’ accept a Mutual Assurance Pact with contestant Tenna?”
“Declined,” Unit-17 replied. “This unit calculates that a Mutual Assurance with contestant Tenna will reduce the probability of victory in the tournament by zero point one three percent.”
Draevin rubbed his temple. His plan didn’t seem to be working. “You do realize that if Tenna agrees to this she’ll have to pull her punches against you, right? Wouldn’t that maybe increase your chances of winning?”
The robot’s eyes flickered again before answering. “This unit’s assessment of contestant Tenna is classified. This unit calculates that a Mutual Assurance Pact with contestant Tenna—”
“Yeah, yeah,” Draevin interrupted it right back. “I heard you the first time. Is there anything I could offer that would make you agree to a pact?”
That got the robot thinking. The red eye flicked off and on for a long moment before it finally responded. “This unit has calculated that matching against contestant Gro’shak in round four will increase the probability of victory in the tournament by fifteen point six nine percent. If contestant Draevin will agree to concede his match against contestant Gro’shak this unit will agree to a Mutual Assurance Pact with contestant Tenna.”
Draevin’s jaw almost dropped open. Was it really that easy? Did this robot not realize that it would face Tenna before he faced Gro’shak and that it had no way of enforcing an idiotic deal like that? “Uhh, yeah, sure. I can agree to that.”
The robot’s eye flickered again while he considered his response. “What is your name?”
      “Draevin Getano.”
“Do you desire victory in this tournament?”
Draevin almost answered automatically before realizing the robot must be trying to size him up. “No,” he said cautiously.
“Will you concede your match against contestant Gro’shak in exchange for this agreement?”
Hell no. Not in a million years. “Yes.”
“Will you verbally state your intention to concede before this unit faces contestant Tenna?”
It had him there. “You know I can’t do that. How will I know you’ll hold up your end after you get what you want? Wouldn’t it ‘increase your probability’ to lie to me?”
The robot paused to think for a bit. It was really nothing like holding a normal conversation. Draevin glanced longingly Sylnya’s way and saw her lounging in a nearby seat scratching her shadow stalker behind the ears. “This unit has calculated there is a four point one percent chance that contestant Draevin will comply with the terms of this agreement. This will increase the probability of victory in the tournament by zero point six five percent.”
Draevin scratched his chin. Apparently it thought there was like a ninety-five percent chance Draevin was lying about conceding to Gro’shak yet it was still willing to make a deal. That suited Draevin just fine. He just wouldn’t have to feel guilty about not conceding to Gro’shak. “So you said accepting Mutual Assurance with Tenna reduced your chances of winning by point one three right? Point six five is bigger. Does that mean you’ll agree to the pact?”
“Confirmed. This agreement will produce a net increase in this unit’s probability of victory in the tournament by zero point five one percent. This unit will agree to a Mutual Assurance Pact with contestant Tenna in exchange for a promise from contestant Draevin to concede his match against contestant Gro’shak.”
Draevin couldn’t believe it was that simple. “Does that mean… the deal is set?”
“Confirmed. This unit has agreed to—”
“Cool, got it,” Draevin interrupted. He had no desire to hear the damn thing repeat itself endlessly. “See you later then.” He turned back to Sylnya and made a walking gesture with two fingers. She raised an eyebrow and popped out of her seat.
“Finally got sick of trying to talk to that thing?” Sylnya asked as she joined Draevin in climbing back up the stairs to the main hall. “You know, I heard the Guild sent a dozen wizards to try to move that robot from where it’s sitting but it just kept going on about how having a good view would increase its probability of victory and they finally just caved and left it alone. I could have told you it was a waste of time.” Sylnya tapped her chin dramatically. “In fact, I’m pretty sure I did just that.”
“What are you on about?” Draevin said with a shit-eating grin. “We reached an agreement. The robot agreed not to kill Tenna.”
Sylnya actually stopped walking. “What? No way! How’d you get it to agree to that?”
Draevin shrugged his shoulders. “All I had to do is lie and promise to concede my match against Gro’shak. Apparently it would much rather fight that old mystic than me, so it must think I’m the bigger threat.”
The pair reached the main hall and it looked like the crowd had thinned out considerably. That had to mean the intermission was coming to a close. Just on time, Maeve’s announcement came. “Ladies and gentlemen. Please make your way to your seats, the next match between Shea and Sylnya will begin shortly.
“Oh, Syl! We never talked about your match! Did you have a plan? I seem to recall you beat Shea last time you fought but she didn’t have the Conch then, that’s a powerful item.”
Sylnya sneered. “Don’t even get me started. The damn thing uses sea water! I can’t just drink it up like last time.”
      “So… you don’t have a plan?”
They reached the Guild guards at the entrance to the service tunnel and Sylnya stopped there. “Of course I have a plan. Peter and I talked strategy this morning. Haven’t you noticed how shiny my skin is? Wax. It should keep me from wilting too badly, but I’m still not looking forward to getting that taste in my mouth.”
As soon as she pointed it out Draevin could see there was a shiny gloss to Sylnya’s bright green skin that he hadn’t noticed. It was such a simple way to protect against salt water. “Glad to hear it. Good luck then.”
Instead of gripping Draevin in a hug like she normally did Sylnya reached up to her ear and pulled off some kind of green bud. “Oh hey, can you hold this for me until I get out? I don’t want it to set off the wards on the fighter’s box.”
Draevin held out his hand. “A magical item? What is it?” Once she’d pulled it out Draevin saw that it was a little ball of green the same color as her skin with a metal needle sticking out the back. He hadn’t even noticed it was there before she’d taken it off.
“A Screecher. What else? You didn’t think I was going to walk around with no mental protections after what Tomrha did to me, did you?”
Draevin looked again at the little earring. “But Screechers are pink crystals. Is this some kind of custom job?”
Sylnya just chuckled. “Not really. Peter just covered it in green paint. He matched my skin tone perfectly. You basically can’t even notice it’s there!”
“Paint?” It was so unsophisticated, but as soon as Draevin thought about it he realized it was actually pretty clever. If a cerebromancer didn’t realize she was wearing a Screecher they might unknowingly expose themselves when they tried to peek into her mind. Everywhere he looked Draevin kept seeing Peter’s influence.

Reminder to the community ...

to keep on pushing.
Many people visit this sub and post after a bad loss. I’ve been there ... we all have. What’s going to happen is after 5-10-20-50 days of not gambling you’re going to feel so accomplished that you’ll have the urge to reward yourself by playing a few hands or betting a couple bucks (or thousands) on the Super Bowl. You need to remind yourself why you are here.
Take control of your future and your finances. When you are gambling the difference between $1 and $1000 means nothing as you are so numb to monetary value. “What’s another $1000 bet considering I have already lost 40 times that?” is something I would say to myself before unloading on another game. I am not a financial advisor, but I have experience in economics, finance, and life and feel I can provide some insight as a recovering addict.
My situation is a bit different so I will give some insight and feel it’s best to explain my situation.
I’m 25 years old and live at home (COVID). I have lived on my own in the Big Apple and have seen both sides of life. One where your parents cover everything and one where you have daily and monthly expenses like rent, utilities, and food. Currently I’m lucky enough where I don’t have expenses, but being the dumbass I was, my expense was paying the bookie. I know many people don’t have the same luxury as I, but it doesn’t mean you can’t still save. I’ve given up the last 2 years of saving and instead gave into this disease.
1) first thing first, personal ban yourself from casinos or online sites. My vice was sports and I had a chat with my bookie and let him know I was struggling. We were able to settle the debt for about half of what I owed. Just ask, it can’t hurt.
2) before you can save you need to pay off whatever outstanding debt you have. Credit cards and fees will continue to build. Once these are at or near $0 you can begin the rebuild. I have (thankfully) never been in debt, but this is certainly where I would start if I was.
3) create a budget. A tight one, to the dollar. Mortgage? Phone? Car? Food? High level looking at the entire month, decide what you can spend and what you can save.
4) CONGRATS!!!! You are debt free. For whats it worth, I will consider phone bills and car payments for what they are, monthly expenses. Factor these into a budget. For some, this step might take 1 month or 10 years. Patience is key.
5) the first exciting part of this whole thing is quitting, the next is clearing of any debts, and now for the grand finale. You can now start to build wealth and add to your future. Depending on your financial security you can decide to add to your savings or opening an investing account (I use Fidelity). Investing in low risk ETFs will continue to gain and gain and gain.
6) if your company offers 401k and match, DO IT. I can’t stress this enough, it’s free money that you can’t touch. Over 3 years of working my 401k has absolutely ballooned. My company matches as well and I can’t withdraw, only add. It’s the perfect scenario for someone still learning how to control their financial future.
7) sit back and watch your money grow. Once you see gains in your investing accounts, you will become invested in learning about different ETFs that it will become a low risk way to “gamble”.
Hope this helps. Be patient. The damage is done and the recovery will take some time. Use your new time wisely, you’ll have a lot of it. As someone who constantly bet on sports, I’d sometimes spend 6-7 hours a day watching college basketball games I normally wouldn’t care about or sweating doing research on how to make back the money I lost. Spend this time to learn new things, pick up a new hobby, and apply to new jobs/opportunities to advance your career and increase your salary.
Most of all, be excited. Be excited about a life without lying to loved ones, chasing loses, owing people or institutions money. Be excited for a life of stability, even if it takes years to arrive at that point. Don’t let the past you define your future. It is never too late to recover. There will be a point where you’ve made so much progress you think you can go back as a changed person. You can’t. Use whatever you can to remind yourself.
One thing I want to add. The most difficult part for me is dealing with the constant regret of losing money. My parents certainly think I’m better off than I am and my bank account could look far better. What helps me is thinking about how fast time flies and how fast you can rebuild if you set your mind to it. Another thing is not comparing myself to others. I always think about how far ahead my friends and classmates are, but in reality everyone deals with different vices. I’m not big into buying material things or smoking, but many people do. These cost money. A lot of it. You really don’t know what other things people are dealing with. I look at gambling as an investment gone wrong.

Bookish dilemma

Long time peeker, first time poster.
Hey, firstly I wanna apologize for my english, its not my native language
This happened one week ago.
Backstory: I run a small bookstagram in my native language (for those who dont know what bookstagram is, its basic instagram account where you post photos of books youve read and rant about them in stories). Because I am poor student and pay rent and food and etc, i dont really have a lot money to spend on books but Im managing. (getting lot of books for christmas, birthdays, sometimes buy them myself and I go to library alot). So when theres some book competition (i guess, idk i mean like where you can win book, i hope you get me) I always join in. Its fun and you know I can get a book for free.
The encounter: One of the bigger bookstagrammers made this christmas competition and the main price was special editioned book signed by the author and made specially for Fairyloot (very expansive bookish mystery box which i deffinetly cant afford but absolutely need). I was amazed when she contacted me and said that i won. She made the draw of the winner public tho.
So I got this message not even five minutes after me knowing that i won. This girl (CB) seemed very nice but you know it was weird for her to message me.
CB: hi, congrats on the winning in /this/ competition from /that/ person. I was curious if there was any possibility if you could trade the book you won with me for something else.
This made me feel weird. First of all, i didnt even held the book in my hands, she doesnt even follow me and if I would not like the book i would probably just make a competition myself to give back to my amazing small booky family.
Me: hey, I think Im not planning to do such thing but just for the info what would you like to trade it for?
CB: starts naming basic books that I could definetly buy for cheap online
Me: still trying to be polite cuz I hate drama Haha yeah sorry, I think Ill hold on to my prize. You know I never won anything and it makes me happy. Its like a christmas gift
CB: well what about my christmas gift?? I just need the book you got it for free anyway. I was trying to buy it online but it was sold out everywhere (you already know that its a special edition and you cant find it anywhere at least in our country)
Me: okay well thanks for your offer but no. Have a nice day and happy new year!
Tl/dr: me winning special edition signed by the author book, choosing beggar tries to trade for cheap books, then goes livid when I refuse.
Hope it was readable. Have a good one guys and stay safe ☀️
Edit: Thank you all for all the recomendations for cheap and free books 💞 Ill check everything out and if you have some more you can definetly comment them too so everyone can take a look ☀️❤️

PSG - This Is England 2019

The plan is simple: Replace all of PSG’s pampered and overpaid squad with some English grit and determination. Who needs the likes of Neymar & Mbappe when you could have Andros Townsend & Jonjo Shelvey? Thiago Silva? Run that name through google translate and you get Phil Jones. And who could forget free transfer Daniel Sturridge? Cavani will be the first out the door when Sturridge signs.
All I need to do is avoid getting sacked. So I need to balance by pursuit of the entire England team with good results on the field. And eventually I will need to somehow sell Neymar & Mbappe without incurring the wrath of the fans and/or board.
First Summer transfer window.

OUT
So, that’s half my pre-season friendlies sorted for next year.
Easily won the Trophee des Champions 3-0 vs Rennes. 2 Marquinhos goals and an OG.
Leading into the new season, I told Marquinhos that I was going to replace him as Vice Captain. He was fine with it. I picked Jordan Henderson as my new Vice Captain. Thiago Silva is still the main man... for now.
There are rumblings of a possible takeover. Could I be sacked before England FC has the chance to win the French League?
The bookies have me at evens to win the league. EVENS? If I could I’d bet the entire transfer budget on that. Evens? I’m PSG with Jack Wilshere. I’m basically unstoppable.
3 days before the opening league fixture, Jack Wilshere tore his ankle ligaments in training. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
Good thing I didn’t make that bet. With Jack out I’ll have to rely on the likes of (check’s squad list) Neymar for creativity.
Won the opening game of the season 2-0 against Strasborg. This included Ben Chilwell scoring a screamer into the top corner from 25 yards and a Neymar tap in. Jude Bellingham also became PSG's youngest ever player as he started in midfield.
I forgot to mention that I am also hiring lots of English staff members. Terry Butcher is managing my reserves. Paul Ince, Teddy Sheringham, James Beattie and Tony Adams are coaching my youth team. Les Reed is my director of football. David Platt is coaching the first team. I’ve also got English physios and fitness staff, but I can’t be arsed to look up their names.
2-0 again in the next game, this time away to Marseille. For the 2nd game running Ben Chilwell scored, followed by a tidy finish from Jordan Henderson.
I'm currently playing with a half English team in the outfield. Fullbacks, CM, AM and Striker are all English. The wingers, centre backs, 1 CM and keeper are all non-English. Daniel Sturridge sits on the bench… brooding.
1-0 next up against Montpellier. Chilly Willy's run of scoring came to an end as Neymar bagged the only goal of the game. On the downside Mbappe pulled his ankle ligaments and will be out for a couple of weeks.
More rumblings of a take over. The PSG owner rubbishes these rumours. Looks like he’s behind England Rangers and their plans to restart the 100 years war.
4-1 win away to AS Saint-Etienne. A hat trick for Neymar along with Mason Greenwood's first goal for the club helped to mask the pain of finally conceding for the first time this season. Keylor Navas really shat the bed trying to pass out from the back. I can’t help but think that Jordan Pickford would have kept the sheets clean.
UCL Group drawn. The Media describe my group as “Tough” as I am drawn against Valencia, Napoli and RB Leipzig.
I don’t include Herrera or Munier in my UCL squad and they are both unhappy. I tell them to shut up and drop both into the reserves. Neither apologises and both are sulking. Luckily nobody in the squad likes them so nobody cares.
One of my young midfielders breaks his back whilst lifting weights. I think Jack Wilshere was giving him pointers.
Jordan Henderson scores his first ever international goal in his 53rd cap. I can’t help but feel that is entirely down to my coaching.
Jack Wilshere is back in light training.
Verratti, Neymar & Mbappe score in a 3-0 demolition of Toulouse. Henderson bags an assist. Daniel Sturridge still can’t open his account for PSG.
First UCL game is next up. Valencia at home. Verratti and Neymar are both suspended. I seem to remember this being to do with their reactions to losing in the knock out stages to Man U in the previous season, following that ridiculous penalty decision given against… Kimpembe? I refuse to look it up to verify. That’s the past. This is the present. Neymar is replaced by Angel Gomes for his debut. That’s easy enough. However, the lack of Verratti and with Herrera rotting away in the reserves, I may be forced to play Wilshere before he’s fully fit… but since he’s never ever ever been fully fit, this seems like the right thing to do!
Boom! We smash Valencia 2-0. Wilshere setting up Greenwood with a defence splitting through pass, and Tavernier crossing to the edge of the box for Henderson to drill home. Wilshere had to be subbed off at half time since he’s Jack Wilshere. Still. 1 game. 1 assist. I am fully justified in signing him.
Big game up next vs Lyon. 1st vs 2nd. For a game like this I need my top players. Wilshere is getting his league debut. Verratti will have to be happy with a spot on the bench.
Oh. Kehrer is set to play against me for the first time since I sold him. Apparently there is “no love lost” between us. I’d honestly forgot I sold him to Lyon. I tell the media that his was a shitbag and nobody liked him here.
A superb come from behind victory for The Englishmen! After trailing to an early penalty conceded by Silva, we turned things around to win 2-1 with goals from Mbappe and Marquinos, assisted by Maddison and Chilwell. Wilshere once again managed 45 mins of football. And that shitbag Kehrer didn’t even play.
Damn. Marquinhos is suspended for a game after 3 bookings in his last 10 matches. I didn’t know that was how the French League did things. Interesting.
Chuopo-Moting dislocated his jaw in training. I can only assume that Jack Wilshere was trying to teach him how to eat a Cornish Pasty in one go.
Holy crap. I almost lost to Metz! 2-0 down going into the final quarter of the match. Needed a 91st minute equaliser from Neymar to avoid defeat. Still, unbeaten so far. I really need some English grit to toughen my central defence. Silva is good and all, but he’s no John Stones.
Before every single game: Jack Wilshere may struggle to see out the match.
I know. He’s Jack Wilshere.
We beat Angers 3-1 with Tavernier (pen) and Angel Gomes both bagging their first goals for the club. Neymar gets the 3rd off the bench. Gomes gets the MOTM award to go with the goal.
Napoli away next. Wilshere set to start his 5th game in a row for probably the first time in his whole career. Neymar is still suspended, so Gomes will be able to build on his man of the match performance with another start.
The board have announced that they have decreased the percentage of transfer revenue available to be retained from player sales to 75%. What the fuck? I’M PSG!!! I want 200% of all sales to go back into the transfer kitty.
We beat Napoli 2-0 with goals from Greenwood and Marquinhos. Greenwood set up Marquinhos by heading a corner back across goal to him, whilst Wilshere set up Greenwood with another great defence splitting through pass, just like the Valencia game. Wilshere lasted 63 mins this game, having been subbed off at half time of every previous game. Still, those 63 mins were enough to win him the MOTM award. Go Jack!
Side quest unlocked: Somehow get Jack Wilshere back into the England squad.
Wilshere is grateful for my faith in him. Aw, Jackie. I love you too, boo.
The Montpellier manager says that PSG are amongst the favourites to qualify for continental football this season. No shit Sherlock.
Wilshere didn’t make the latest England squad. No worry Jack. Next time it’s a friendly I’ll pull Madison and Henderson from the squad. Then maybe you will make it? Or plan B, wait for Southgate to get fired then apply for the job.
Gomes keeps his place in the team, meaning that Neymar is on the bench for the 2nd league game in a row. We beat Amiens 2-0 away, with goals from Henderson and Mbappe. Wilshere picked up a booking before being subbed off . Still, no injury. That rejuvenating Parisian tap water is doing wonders for the boy!
International break. I give Wilshere a week off. I’m worried that if he trains his knees may fall off. Meanwhile, Maddison gets his first international goal.
More takeover rumours. I guess Wilshere is interesting possible investors.
The week’s rest did the trick! This is the first game he’s started where I haven’t been told that Wilshere “may struggle to see out the match”. My medical staff are certainly earning their wages.
Wilshere lasted the full match as an 87th minute James Tavernier penalty scraped us a 1-0 win at home to Nantes. That’s 10 in a row unbeaten in the league, with 28 points from a possible 30. Frank Lampard was spotted at the game. Apparently he is interested in signing Marquinhos. This could be a good way for me to sign Fikayo Tomori and/or Reece James. Watch this space…
Next up: RB Leipzig away.
Tavernier and Mbappe have developed a solid green link down the right side. This was unexpected. As was the result. RB Leipzig 4-6 PSG! A hat trick for Mbappe, 2 for Greenwood and 1 for Neymar. The defence was an absolute shambles this game. Luckily the attack bailed them out. I really need a couple of Englishmen to replace those 2 Brazilians in the centre of defence.
HOLY CRAP. Gareth Southgate was spotted at Red Bull Arena, casting an eye over basically half my team for the upcoming internationals. Jack Wilshere’s name is included among the players he was watching. GO JACK!
Next up we beat Lille 3-2 away. Take a quick 2-0 lead through Neymar and a Tavernier penalty. Switch off and it’s 2-2 at half time. Spend the entire second half throwing everything at them and finally in the 87th minute Tavernier pops up at the back post to tap in the winner. 2 goals for my right back. Not too shabby.
Side quest unlocked: Get James Tavernier his first England cap. This might be too difficult. Ahead of him he has Trent, Walker, Wan-Bissaka, Trippier & James. Heck, Tavernier never even got any youth caps for England. Still, if he keeps on playing as well as he does then even Gareth “I only pick players on form but actually fuck that let’s keep playing Pickford and Maguire even though they are having the worst seasons of their professional careers IRL” Southgate can’t ignore him forever.
Keylor Navas is injured. For absolutely no reason I set about signing 32 year old (and 1 time England U21 international) Ben Alnwick on a free.
PSG gain another sponsor. This is a 1 season deal worth £29m with a “European telecommunications company”. Totally not a FFP get around. Not at all.
I ask the board for more transfer funds. They say no. I whine like a little bitch. They give me £75m. Nice!
With the new funds available, Director of Football Les Reed recommends Sadio Mane as our top transfer target. Fuck that. I’m buying John Stones!
I have completely fucked up with a rookie mistake. With Navas injured, I forgot to stop Rico playing for the reserves. Now I’m about to play Brest (snigger) at home and both my keepers can’t play. With the Alnwick transfer yet to be completed, it looks like I’m going to have to rely on a 20 year old Pole called Marcin Bulka.
Relegation zone Brest manage to put 2 past him, but my attack get 3 to scrape a 3-2 win. Well, I say attack. Maddison, Sarabia and Tavenier (another penalty) get the goals. Mbappe and Wilshere (nooooooooo) pick up injuries in the game. Mbappe will miss 4-6 weeks with a twisted ankle, whilst Wilshere will miss just a few days with a bruised thigh. This does mean he will miss the RB Leipzig return fixture in midweek.
Ben Alnwick joins the club. I tell the press that he will be a massive boost to the entire squad. I quickly arrange a midweek friendly for the reserves so that he can get some game time before the weekend fixture in the league. I move every keeper (5?!) from the reserves into the first team to make sure that Terry Butcher has to play Alnwick. I’ll have to play Rico in the UCL, since I can’t register Ben… yet.
At home against Red Bull Leipzig we cruise to a 4-2 victory. A brace from Neymar, another open play goal for Tavernier, along with a goal for Greenwood wrap things up. I’m still concerned by my centre backs though. They need some English heart replace the Brazilian skill.
That win qualifies us from the group. So some players get bonuses paid. Including Alfonse Areola (snigger) who is on loan at Real Madrid. You still have to pay bonuses to players who aren't at the club?
DAMN YOU GARETH SOUTHGATE. He calls up Chilwell, Henderson and Maddison. Poor Jack and Jim. They feel so unloved.
Alnwick keeps a clean sheet for the reserves. That’s enough for me. 2 training sessions and 1 reserves game since the end of the previous season is enough to earn him a start at the weekend against 5th placed Nice.
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT. I forgot to put the reserve keepers back in the reserves squad, so Ben Alnwick played for the reserves today. Now he can’t play against Nice. I’ll have to play Johnny Rico (totally setting that as his nickname now) again. On the plus side at least Wilshere is back.
We absolutely smash Nice 3-0 away. An OG, another Tavernier penalty and a Verratti goal. Wilshere lasts the 90 and bags a MOTM award for his troubles.
I send Henderson, Chilwell and Maddison on holiday for a week just before they are supposed to join the England squad in the international break. Fuck you Southgate. Pick Wilshere you bastard. I also send Neymar, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva on holiday for a week, but that’s just for shits and giggles.
That’s the defence sorted! Once the January transfer window opens I’ve got John Stones, Rob Holding and Jordan Pickford all joining the club. That’s a Champions League winning line up if ever I saw one. Looks like Marquinhos, Navas and Thiago Silva will either have to leave or enjoy being benched.
Gaylord Kitenge is 12 months away from being homegrown. His parents are mean.
More takeover rumours. My owner quashes them. He is (not) quoted as saying that he is 100% behind his visionary manager and King Wilshere.
For no reason at all I am now training Ander Herrera as a left back. Double intensity.
Ah. The “send them on holiday” scheme didn’t work. They still played for their countries. Dang.
Neymar is hotly tipped to win Foreign Player of the year. He is up against the likes of blah blah blah and James Tavernier!
Next game is home against Dijon. Let’s see if Ben Alnwick can cut the mustard (snigger).
Another James Tavernier penalty as we beat Dijon 2-1. They managed 2 shots on target all game, and one of them went in. I am starting to think that Ben Alnwick is not the super human shot stopper that I bigged him up to be.
Oh, that was our 10th win in a row. That’s a new record for PSG.
I’ve sent half my first team on holiday for a week. They need a rest and since I’ve already qualified I’ll just play the likes of Verratti against Valencia. You know. Reserves.
Man U turned down my bid of a friendly in exchange for Phil Jones. I thought it was a more than fair offer.
Holy crap. We beat Valencia away 1-0, despite resting the entire outfield apart from Henderson. Both fullbacks were 17 year olds from the youth team. There’s only 1 explanation for it: Jordan Henderson is an amazing captain who led his troops to victory. It has nothing to do with the Valencia red card.
Ander Herrera has had a change of heart and no longer wants to leave. Tough titties mate. You’re a left back now. Train harder!
Nimes are brushed aside 2-0 away. Mbappe and Sarabia score. This takes us on to 12 wins in a row.
November ends. The board rate my performance as a B. What the fuck? I have literally won every single game and we are playing attacking football. Apparently they aren’t happy with Ben Alnwick’s signing. Fair point.
We are on course to pass the financial fair play regulations. Lol
Reims are demolished 6-0 at home. Another 2 goals for MOTM Tavernier (1 penalty, 1 from open play), Henderson, Sarabia & 2 for Mbappe. That’s 13 wins in a row.
Idrissa Gueye has handed in a transfer request. I think the fact that I forgot he even existed may be partly responsible for this. I accept the request.
James Tavernier is currently the joint second highest scorer in the league on 9 goals. DID YOU HEAR THAT SOUTHGATE? Call him up.
Monaco are smashed 3-0 away with an Icardi hat trick. On the down side Chilwell has reached his yellow cards limit whilst Neymar has sprained his ankle and is out for 3 weeks. When’s his sister’s birthday again?
Home game against Napoli to round off the UCL group stages. I’m going to rest everyone. Pre-match Gattuso tells the press how much he admires me. I tell the press that Gattuso is a wanker. I still remember him headbutting 100 year old Joe Jordan in the face.
My fans are confident ahead of the Napoli game. They haven’t seen the team yet… and I still win 2-0. MOTM Angel Gomes and Paplo Sarabia with the goals. This result was enough for Red Bull Leipzig to leapfrog Napoli and qualify 2nd in the group with 9 points and a goal difference of -2. They are one of 2 teams to qualify with a negative goal difference, the other being Dinamo Zagreb. I am one of 2 teams to qualify with 6 wins out of 6, the other two being Tottenham and Chelsea.
Bordeaux are swept aside next. 3-0 at home, with goals from Greenwood, Mbappe and Henderson. That’s 16 wins in a row in all competitions.
Ander Herrera has handed in a transfer request. I guess he doesn’t like being in the reserves and being trained as a left back. I accept the request.
I draw Ajax in the UCL first knock out round. That’s a very winnable tie for Wilshere & co. Meanwhile, Liverpool draw Real Madrid and Juventus draw Bayern Munich.
Next up is the Coupe de la Ligue BKT game vs Amiens at home. I will be fined £6.5k if I don’t pick 7 players in the squad who have played in at least 1 of my last 2 competitive games. Interesting idea, but a fine like that means nothing to me. I was going to rotate everyone to intentionally incur the fine. However, 2 games ago I played my reserves vs Napoli, so I’ve pretty much played everyone in the last 2 games anyway. We absolutely steamroll them 4-0, with goals from Kimpembe, Mbappe and MOTM Greenwood bagging 2. More importantly, Ben Alnwick kept a clean sheet. Also, Bellingham becomes the youngest ever Coupe de la Ligue BKT player.
Athletico Bilbao offer me £15m for Herrera, with me paying £83k of his wages every week. I tell them to stick that offer up their arse, and counter with a non-negotiable £15m and £100 per week of his wages being paid. They agree to this!
Rennes frustrate us with a 0-0 draw. Despite MOTM Wilshere picking out passes left and right, the finishing was poor. The run of 17 wins in a row is halted. Still, currently unbeaten this season.
The fans are reported to have hated Angel Gomes since he joined on loan. Bloody Anglophobes.
That’s it for Part 1. Just entered the winter break.
Next up: Part 2 - The Ballard of Rob Holding

22 at rock bottom....again.

Hey guys, I have been reading this thread al night and everyone’s stories have made me realize I am not alone. For the first time in a long time I have some hope that I can still fix things in my life. You have all inspired me to share my story.
I am 23 years old and I have been gambling since I was 16. It all started when a couple of my highschool friends decided to open up a book. At first I kept my losses to a minimum but I was hooked from the start. At the start I was only losing around $100 a week ( a lot of money to a 16 year old) but as I got older the losses began to grow. My friends being my bookie definitely strained our relationship when I was late on payments. Mostly every week I would max out my account and I couldn’t wait till first thing Monday morning for my account to reset so I could bet again. By the time I was graduating highschool I already began to have a reputation for loosing money but so did a lot of my friends so I didint really think too much of it.
Throughout college I was lucky enough to have my parents send me chase periodically to spend on food/ social life. Most of this went straight to gambling as bounced from bookie to bookie trying to cover my losses. At this point I was a junior in college and things started to get pretty serious. I realized I had a problem but was unable to stop. I was chasing after my losses every week. Once I would go on a hot streak it was like I would forget all abt what it was like to lose and all my problems would go away. All my summer jobs income would go straight to fueling my gambling. I hit rock bottom multiple times in college, owing bookies hundreds of dollars while my bank account was at $0. Each time I would tell myself I was done gambling and I would slowly pay off my debts. My all time low was when I had to call up my mom and ask to borrow money to pay off a bookie. She was very disappointed in me and I felt awful. She made me promise to never put myself in this situation again.
Looking back at my college experience I feel like 90% of it was spent being stressed out abt paying someone back or avoiding a bookie. Once I graduated and was starting a real job I told myself I would use this as a fresh start and give up gambling. At first I was able to give it up for a little bit, I was starting to build up my bank account every week thanks to my new job and I was feeling good about the path my life was going down. For the first time in my life I was not broke anymore and I had the power to spend money as I pleased. I was able to use my money to book flights to visit my girlfriend/friends back in college and life was good. Then came the legalization of sports online sports betting in my state. I decided to open up an account and deposit $100. This quickly spirald out of control. After every loss I would deposit more money and my bank account shrunk after each week. It got to the point where I was gambling away each hard earned paycheck days after it hit my account. I felt so shitty abt this because it was like I was working for free. Then came a win streak where I was able to win abt $4,000 in 2 weeks. Everything was good again and I forgot all about my problem. When COVID hit I was out of work and no longer had a stream of income. My bank account was at about $8,000 which would of been enough to live off of until I could start working again. After my heater my bet size grew tremendously I went from wagering $50 a bet to $100 then to $300 on some bets, eventually there were some bets where I would wager up to $1000 dollars on if I was up on my account. No matter how much I won I never was able to keep it. I quickly burned though the $8000 in my bank account and was broke again. I was so embarrassed and the last thing I wanted was for my girlfriend to find out. I hit a new all time low when I stole $2,000 out of my moms bank account to cover some debts/ gamble again. This was about 2 months ago. I immediately felt horrible for doing this and had a panic attack. I came clean to my parents about everything. I told them how out of control this had gotten and how I needed help to stop. I told them I was scared and I wanted my life back. They were not mad at me but were very understanding and supportive when I first told them. I promised to stop and you would think this would be the end of it right? I really wish it was.
After coming clean to my parents everything began to feel so real. The gravity my addiction finally set it. I was so embarrassed and I could not believe I let myself get to this point. I quickly fell into a depression and was put on medication to help. I wanted to use this a fresh start. I was broke but did not owe anyone any money. I wanted to earn money the right way and leave this all behind me. I knew I had lost a ton in this past but I was ready to leave that in the past. This was about 3 weeks ago. Since then I stopped using the legal sports sites because my parents were monitoring my bank accounts. However, a friend of mine from college had a book and I opened an account with him. The first week I quickly lost $1,000. I was devastaded and so dissappinted in myself that I fell back into this hole. I couldn’t stop tho I was determined to win it back and start fresh again. The second week I lost another $1000. I wanted to stop but I couldn’t. My bookie was my friend I was worried he would tell all my friends back at school about my losses and worse, he would tell my girlfriend (she has no idea abt the extent of my losses). This week was my last shot to win my money back before he returned to school from break and saw my friends and girlfriend. I was using this week as one last shot at saving myself. Of course it did not work and I lost another $1500. My girlfriend is returning to school this weekend and she will be sure to hear about my losses and I’m so ashamed.
This brings us today. If you are still reading I really appreciate it because I never told anyone abt the extent of this. I am at a loss for words, i do not know what to do. My back account is overdrawn by $2,000. I have two maxed out credit cards, and now after last night I owe my friend/ bookie another $1500 on Monday. I do not sleep anymore, I barely eat, my moods are constantly dependent on my bets. I take my frustrations out on the ppl I love the most. After reading everyone’s posts on this thread I think I am ready to finally leave this all behind me. I’m done chasing my losses. I need to accept the fact that I’m in a huge hole and I need to be and adult and work my way out of it. I am going to come clean to my girlfriend tomorrow before she returns to school, I want her to hear it from me and not my friends. I am ready to take the first step to recovery but I need your help.
How can I block gambling out of my life, every time I watch tv/ listen to the radio it’s another commercial about a gambling site offering a new promo to entice people to join. Every time I hangout with my friends they are talking about what games they are betting on, every my own brothers have began to sports gamble. Every where I turn gambling is being shoved in my face, the adds on my social media’s are all about gambling. The people in my life who gamble have more self control then me. I need to stop but I cant avoid it. I don’t know what to do and I could really use some advise because I’m at the end of the line here. If I can’t give this up I don’t know what I’m going to do. Gambling has destroyed my reputation, friendships, relationships, my finances, my happiness, my sleep, my weight, I have given everything I have to gambling. I simply have nothing left to give....

A short Guide to making £500 through Match betting

Putting this out there once more for those who missed it a couple of months ago. Here is a link to the original post which might be useful because of questions answered in the comments section. Like I said before, This guide is a handy way to sort out a month's rent for 5 or 6 hours work, so I really hope it can be of use to someone.
Having done my research and having been able to turn a really nice profit in such a short time, I wanted to make a short guide to eliminate people's doubts and simplify things a little. Since it really doesn't take a lot of time to hit that £500 profit mark, it's a shame not to try it out. Anyway, Here it goes:
A good one to use is Monzo or Starling, both apps are super easy to use and it only takes 5 minutes to open an account. It's also totally free to open.
Monzo non ref: https://monzo.com
Starling non ref: https://www.starlingbank.com/

Why Books Love Taking Futures Bets

I’ve seen too many articles “reminding" me to go bet NBA futures for 2021. The books want the futures handle so badly, and it's certainly obvious why this is the case.
In reality, a true pro bettor never places a season-long future bet and neither should you...
Read this POST to find out why:
1- Future markets have a high hold % for the book, meaning you likely do not have a big edge. But even if you do... If betting a season long future, you need to factor in the date the bet will settle. If the bet settles in 1 year, you are giving the book an interest free loan. Lets look at the time value of money principle. The average person can expect to earn ~5% /yr through investing their money. The future bet doesn’t pay you interest. So if the bet ties up my money for 1 year, then your edge has to be bigger than the 5% you could earn elsewhere.
2- Money tied up in a pending future cannot be put in play today. Bankroll management is extremely important for professionals. If I have a similar edge on a daily basis, then continually putting that money in play daily will provide me a higher ROI than a year long future bet. Many people grasp this concept and opt to bet futures exclusively at books that offer credit. This way, you don't tie up money & you don't have to worry about opportunity cost.
In reality, placing a future bet at a credit book is actually worse for true professionals. Here's why:
3- Credit is extremely important. Pro bettors are continually looking for new places to bet and the more credit you have, the more you can bet, & the more you can win. Having a credit account is a gift for any pro bettor. Don't waste your credit on a season long future.
4- If you have an account & you earn money betting into the account; it is only a matter of time until you are cut off. This is what happens to a successful bettor. When this happens it doesn't end well. I have seen many bookies cancel future bets that are going to win, but leave losers active, essentially free rolling you.
5- In today's day and age, it is increasingly likely that a season is postponed, delayed or cancelled. House rules vary and are often altered / enforced without notice. In other words. who knows what is going to happen with these seasons and who knows what rules the books will enforce.
Note: I am referring to season long future bets such as the Super Bowl Winner, Season Win Totals, or Divisional Futures. I am not referring to short term future bets such as betting on who will win the Masters on the Tuesday before the tournament. These settle quickly. This thread is intended to help bettors who attempt to make money betting sports.... If you are just looking to have fun, placing a future bet on your favourite team, or hitting a long shot champion can be very entertaining & the fun you have may outweigh the -EV on the bet made... GO NUTS!!

They’re known for offering an extensive selection of markets and also have unrivaled customer support. Their bonuses are also great, and you’ll be able to find great BetWinner promo code offers available to new customers.
In this BetWinnerreview, we’re going to be giving you an impartial, honest and in-depth look into this popular bookmaker – and what they have to offer when it comes to esports. For example, we’ll cover the BetWinner app, BetWinner esports markets, payment options and more. Let’s kick things off with a look at our editor’s review of the site, following by looking at the main BetWinner bonus offer, available to all new customers.

EDITOR’S REVIEW

BETWINNER
Summary
BetWinner is a major name in the eSports betting industry and for good reason. They offer a vast selection of markets, but it’s not just their eSports that make them so desirable.
They also offer a substantial number of other sporting markets and events, with coverage all over the world. They offer more than 140 different payment methods (so there’s something for everyone), and their well-made, secure and reliable website makes betting easy. They also have a mobile app, which we’ll talk about later.
3.9

BETWINNER BONUS OFFERS

BetWinner’s new-customer welcome bonus is one of the most generous around – and you’ll be able to enjoy a 100% matched deposit bonus up to 100 EUR! It’s incredibly easy to claim the bonus; all you need to do is register an account and top up your account with up to 100 Euros. Your bonus will then be credited to your account automatically. Please note, the minimum deposit required in order to claim the bonus is 1 EUR.
You also may need to “agree” to receive the bonus, depending on which country you reside in. This can be done within the “Account Settings” page, or directly from the “Deposit” page.
The bonus comes with wagering requirements of 5X, which is pretty good overall. You also need to include at least 3 or more events in any accumulator bets, and at least 3 of these events must have odds of 1.40 or higher. You can read the full bonus terms and conditions from BetWinner’s main “Bonus” page.
Along with a hugely generous main welcome bonus offer, BetWinner also offers a wide variety of ongoing promotions. These are subject to change at any time, and they tend to bring out new offers weekly – but it’s common to see money-back specials, BetWinner promo code giveaways, and more. You can view full details of any ongoing (or upcoming) promotions from their “PROMO” tab which is found on the top-most navigation menu on their site.

BETWINNER ESPORTS BETTING MARKETS

A major part of writing this BetWinner review was taking a look at their esports betting markets. BetWinner offers a fantastic selection to choose from, and you’ll find everything from WarCraft III, PUBG, CS:GO, Dota 2, King of Glory and Rainbow Six.
Many BetWinner esports markets also offer a comprehensive selection of betting markets for you to choose from. For example, let’s take a look at one of their events: CS:GO. ESL One Road to Tio – Winstrike vs Syman.
Of course, you’ll find yourself able to bet on the overall match winner, but there’s a plethora of other markets available too. For example, you can attempt to guess the correct score – with lucrative payouts if you manage to do so. There’s a “Total Maps” market, and a “Total Maps Handicap” market. You’ll also find a “Total Maps Even/Odd” market providing even more betting options.
You can also put esports bets into other types of bet, including accumulators, system and chain bets. You’ll often see “recommended” bets further down the betting page when you enter a specific event page.
One of the things we really like about BetWinner is that they make it really easy to view even odds. For example, when they’re running lol events, you can easily and quickly view lol betting odds right from the main “esports” page. You can then click on a specific event to view a more comprehensive breakdown of the specific bet types which are available for that event.

HOW TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH BETWINNER?

BetWinner makes it very easy to open an account. They have a one-click registration process for players from certain countries. You can also press the “Registration” button to open your account using a phone number.

BETWINNER MOBILE APP

A big part of writing this BetWinner review was looking at the BetWinner app. It’s designed to let you place esports bets while on the move and is available to download – free of charge – on all iOS and Android devices.
The BetWinner app is smooth, well-made and easy-to-use. There’s a handy navigation menu positioned in the upper right-hand-corner of the screen, and this lets you work your way around. It’s possible to register an account directly from the app if you’re a new customer. If you already have a BetWinner account, you can log into the app using TouchID once you’ve entered your username and password once.
We tested out the app extensively while writing this BetWinner review. We really like the way you can search directly for events. Esports are far from being the most popular betting market offered at bookies today, so you won’t usually see them featured on the home page. Thankfully, using the app, you can search directly for the markets you want. Placing bets is also simple, and once you’ve added selections to your bet slip it’s a one-click process to confirm the bet amount and place it.
We should also point out that you don’t have to download BetWinner’s mobile app if you prefer not to. They also have a fully-functional mobile-optimized website, which allows you to place bets through your mobile device’s internet browser. It’s worth keeping an eye on their mobile promotions too, as there are sometimes special BetWinner bonus offers for mobile.

IS BETWINNER LEGIT?

In our opinion, BetWinner is one of the most trustworthy and reliable esports betting sites. For the purpose of writing this BetWinner review, we wanted to find out more about their licensing – and who actually regulates them. BetWinner holds a valid online gambling license from the Government of Curacao. This ensures the bookie adheres to strict rules and regulations and allows them to offer their services to customers all over the world.
This sportsbook website is also very secure. They use the latest HTTPS technology alongside state-of-the-art encryption. Not only does this make the overall betting experience faster, smoother and more reliable – it also ensures that your personal information/sensitive details are safe and secure.

Australian punters, what Bookies do you use?

In search of some new/different bookies other than Sportsbet/Neds/Ladbrokes where I've had my account essentially banned.
Any suggestions on some smaller, less prominent bookies in Australia? Good fixed odds on sports/horses and decent promos or reward programs?
From what I've found, Unibet, Bet365 and Betfair have mobile apps that are unusable. Pointsbet could be alright but the offering on horse racing isn't flash
Sportsbetting.com.au and Palmerbet have great fixed odds in general. Sportsbetting also has a pretty simple and elite rewards program.
Bluebet has some grouse promotions, and Bet Deluxe have weirdly amazing promotions for a tiny bookie

The Premier League is back this weekend, which means a resurgence in Match Betting. Here is my 3 Part Mega Guide to making £500 for several hours work, and then making £500- £1000 on a monthly basis.

So a lot of you will know that I regularly post guides and tips about match betting, However since the same questions always come up in the comments, I decided to make one big, very thorough Mega Guide in order to eliminate as many doubts as possible for you guys. Like I said before, This guide is a handy way to sort out a month's rent for 5 or 6 hours work, so I really hope it can be of use to someone. Anyway, Here it is:
PART 1: MATCH BETTING EXPLAINED; HOW TO MAKE £500 IN 5/6 HOURS
Having done my research and having been able to turn a really nice profit in such a short time, I wanted to make a short guide to eliminate people's doubts and simplify things a little. Since it really doesn't take a lot of time to hit that £500 profit mark, it's a shame not to try it out. Anyway, Here it goes:
It's the same process again, You find a game that has very close odds on both the bookies and the exchange ( You can do this by eye or by using odds matching software.
You can use a separate, virtual bank account for all your match betting, In this way your main banking information is not shared with any of the sites you sign up to. A good one to use is Monzo, the app is easy to use and it only takes 5 minutes to open an account. It's free to open an account and last I checked they actually have a referral scheme where you get £5 if you sign up through a referral link.
Non Referral here: https://monzo.com/

PART 2: MAKING £500-£1000 EVERY MONTH.
You may sometimes see people commenting saying they have made a lot more money since finishing the welcome offers, £1000-£1500 a month and such, but never saying exactly how...
Personally I have made a lot more profit every month since I finished the welcome offers, Usually around the £1000 per month mark.
People say that Match betting drys up once you finish the welcome offers but this is simply not true, it's a matter of being more organised and checking your email for new offers, while also checking the Reload Offers section on Team Profit every morning (Takes literally 5 minutes)
Below is an Example from last month where I made £300 in one week. Bare in mind that the amount you make weekly will vary with the amount of sport that is on, but as long as there's sport, you will always be able to earn. This example is simply to show you the potential Match Betting has long after you've completed the Welcome offers:
Here's exactly how I did it:
Coral: Money back as a free bet up to £50 if your team is ahead in the first half but doesn't win the match in the end: Matched 5 Premier League games, 3 were successful. I received three £50 free bets which I matched and turned into £130 profit risk free. £130 in 30 minutes
William Hill: Money Back as Cash if your horse comes 2nd- 2 of the 6 horses I matched came 2nd, I was also able to make a profit by just matching the bets because my odds were higher on the bookies side by using the Happy Hour odds (between 12pm-1pm, 3 horses with enhanced odds) and also the 3 daily bet boosts on Horse raising( to boost my odds on another 3 horses). £20 in 5 minutes
Paddy Power: Money Back up to £10 if Horse comes 2nd 3rd or 4th, Matched the horse with the lowest odds and sure enough it came 3rd, got my £10 free bet. £8 in 3 minutes
Skybet: Money Back as cash up to £10 if Horse comes 2nd 3rd or 4th, Matched the horse with the lowest odds and sure enough it came 3rd, got my £10. £9.50 in 3 minutes
Skybet: Wednesday Super odds: Matched the three super odds on the exchange and due to the difference in odds (If the odds on the bookies are greater than those for same bet on the exchange you are automatically profiting). £10 in 3 minutes
Boylesports: £10 Free bet if your bet loses(Premier League Match): £8 in 3 minutes
Paddy Power 2up: An offer where you get paid out early if your time goes up by 2 goals, the profit varies depending on what the odds on the exchange are when you back the team you orignally lay against, but this offer can make you a lot of profit (You will need to download the team profit calculator app and use the early payout calculator). Last week it Made me £35. £35 in 5 minutes
Novibet: Deposit £100 and get a £50 free bet. Very easy because you just have to deposit the money, get your free bet, withdraw your £100 straight away, then match the free bet on the exchange. £40 in 5 minutes
Coral: Bet 3x £5 in play and get a £5 free bet-Availble everyday. Just match these at half time so the odds are stable, Make sure you also place mug bets every couple of days if you do this one a lot, I would reccomend doing it 5 times a week tops. £20 in 30 minutes
Paddy Powe Skybet Bet clubs: Bet 5x £10 bets in a week to get a £10 free bet with Paddy Power. Bet £25 in a week to get a £5 free bet with Skybet. £10 in 30 minutes

Above you can see the reality of making profit long after you've finished the welcome offers, but it comes down to organisation.
So in Summary, these are my 6 Rules for making a monthly Profit:
(1) Check your email daily for offers, many times bookies will send you personalised offers just for you, and these can be very VERY generous.
(2) Check the Reload Offers section on Team profit every morning to see what offers are available that day.
(3) Offers change all the time- Don't let this put you off. There are always new offers to replace the previous ones. There are also Weekly/Daily offers ( Coral £50 free bet, Paddy power refund if 2nd 3rd 4th, William hill money back if second, Paddy Power 2up, Bet clubs etc) which are constantly available when sport is on.
(4) Make Mug bets ( Explained more in PART 3)
(5) It all adds up. Don't think "It's only a £5 free bet, not worth matching". I get around 15 £5 free bets every week, If I ignored them all I would be down £200 at the end of the month.
(6) Don't spend all day at it. Once you've checked your email and reload offers, you know what offers you need to do that day. Set alarms so you can make your matches before each event starts, but don't spend ages sitting at your computer waiting for "the perfect match", for your own mental health, set a time limit of 1 hour per day at most.

PART 3: FAQ
(1) How much money do you need to put in to start?
When you go onto the offers page on Team Profit after signing up, there is an option to start with £25, £50 or £100. You can select one of those three options And it will show you a different number of offers according to your selection. I started with £100 because I wanted to get things moving a little quicker. I did this so that I would have enough money for liability to do a bigger earning offer at the start. One year later, and having see the potential for profit, I keep around £500 floating between my accounts. This is useful for large sporting events where I may want to do around 10- 15 offers in a short time.
(2) Is it in anyway going to impact my credit score?
Using gambling sites doesn't effect your credit score unless you borrow money to fund it. I do all my match betting through a virtual bank (Monzo) in order to keep that stuff out of my main bank on the off chance that it raises any eyebrows. You'll be using Monzo like a cash card, where you can only spend the money you put into the card. This is why it won't affect your credit score, because you wouldn't be taking out an overdraft or using credit for example.
(3) What is Mug Betting?
Mug Betting is where you make bets that have no relation to any offer or promotion in order to appear like a regular punter. If you are doing a lot of offers on one site, it's a good idea to make mug bets in order to avoid being "gubbed" (Gubbed is a term for when bookies realise you are only taking advantadge of promotions and close your account permanantly). Of course you will also Match these "Mug bets" on the exchange. Make 1-2 Mug bets on Each site every week(On the sites you are using a lot for offers and promotions) in order to ensure your accounts last longer than 1-2 years. I have been matching for well over a year and have never been gubbed. Take the extra couple of minutes to Mug bet, it's worth it.
More on Mug betting here

Ok so that's everything I can think of to share with you guys, The link to sign up to your free Team Profit account is at the bottom of Part 1 of this guide.
TLDR: You do not need to "gamble" to match bet, in fact by definition, the bet you make is "matched" on the exchange, so it is not a gamble in any sense.
I really hope this guide will help someone out because It really is a solid way to sort out a months rent for quite a modest amount of work.
Thanks for Reading.

Leaving Ahmadiyyat: The Islah Pasand Incident

I would like to start off with this: I have the utmost of respect for my parents. Although I do not agree with them theologically sometimes, I have nothing but appreciation for everything they have provided me with. Many of the things contained within are my own opinions. However, I never state an opinion without at least providing one source from the Holy Qur’an, Ahadith or Ahmadi literature itself. My intention is never to offend any person’s beliefs and if you disagree with what I have written, you have that right.
This is an account about our experience with Jama’at-e-Ahmadiyya Islah Pasand. Note: AGJ stands for Abdul Ghaffar Janbah.

Mother’s Experience

One afternoon, 3 years ago, my Mother was listening to a Friday Sermon of KMIV in which he spoke of the divorce of his daughter. Mum was confused as to what the meaning of his speech was but allowed AutoPlay to continue to the next video. The next video was of a man (AGJ) claiming that he had told KMIV about some prophetic dreams that he had. KMIV told him that if he wanted to continue this line of enquiry, he would have to do it on his own and that he was thus excommunicated from the Jama’at. She sat there and thought “who is this guy?” Bear in mind, Mum is blind, so she had no control over what comes on next. The next video had something to do with KMII and some very ungentlemanly accusations laid at his feet…
Days… Weeks… Months went by and my Mum was still listening to these videos. One night, my Dad confronted my Mum and said, “what on Earth are you listening to?”, my Mum replied, “you have to listen to this.” After a few minutes of listening to the video my Dad says, “what so you don’t believe that Hadhrat Musleh-Maoud was the Promised Reformer?” She said, “no that’s not it, but you have to listen to what this man has to say.” Then came the big claim that he made, “I am the Musleh-Maoud with whom the prayer of Hadhrat Muhammadi Maryam at Chilla Hoshiarpur was answered.” “WHAT???” said Dad. “He’s claiming to be the Promised Son? But Hadhrat Mirza Basheer-Ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad reformed the Jama’at as per the prophecy of Musleh-Maoud!!!” He told Mum to stop listening to ramblings of this Satanic person. That night, my Father had a dream about AGJ to the effect of him giving a sermon and Dad was sat on the ground listening, I don’t remember the details exactly. He had a similar dream the next day.

Herr Janbah and his claims

I want to say that my parents thoroughly researched his claims. But how do you research the claims of a man who hasn’t done anything yet? Could it be that he just found some loop-holes in the Ahmadi narrative and is exploiting them for his own gain? I want to briefly mention what exactly he claims to be. His most pedestrian claim would be that he is the Mujaddid (Spiritual Reviver) of the 15th Century AH. Okay that’s fair enough I suppose… (It gets a bit bookie from here on so put your seatbelts on). So, remember how Mirza Ghulam Ahmad received a revelation about a Promised Son? Yeah that’s him as well. But not only is he the Zaki Ghulam… as per that same prophecy it is told that this son will have messianic qualities, he is, as a result ‘Isa ibn-e-Maryam (the Second Manifestation of Jesus and the Messiah) as foretold in the Hadith. Okayyyy? I thought Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed to be that??? So, is he saying that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a liar? Nope he says that his claims are in line with the writings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Okayyy then what is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad? He never claimed to be the Messiah he was simply the Mahdi described in the Hadith about the latter days or was confused by the signs of these two people. I have discussed this further in the section titled- Analysis of Claims.
Moreover, he speaks of how KMII created the concept of Khilafatul Masih to establish a Gaddi Nashin (hereditary successorship). Before this, there sat a group that made executive decisions together (called the Anjuman) but at the death of the first Sadr of the Anjuman (Hakeem Maulvi Noor-ud-Din), the succession problem created a split in the movement of Lahoris (under Muhammad Ali) and Qadianis (under Basheer-ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad). Of course, most people joined the son of the founder for the old Gaddi Nasheen traditions.
There are other supplementary claims, like the standard “Allah speaks with him” so that makes him a prophet too. He had a series of dreams in which Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is walking with him in the gardens of heaven and told him to pray more and have taqwa. Allah informed him in one night during prostration about his fate. He says, something to the effect of ‘the Ghaffar that went into prostration was not the same Ghaffar who arose’. I believe this is a reference to the following Hadith,
It was narrated from 'Ali that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"Mahdi is one of us, the Ahl-ul-Bayt. Allah will rectify him in a single night." (Sunan Ibn Majah 4085; English translation: Vol. 5, Book 36, Hadith 4085)
Which doesn’t make sense because this Hadith is about the Mahdi and not the Messiah (he claims the latter).
I guess by the style of that last paragraph, you may have gathered that I don’t buy this. Well the last (almost) three years have been rough for me. In my own time, I had continued some research about Ahmadiyyat, but I was still following the same message. I thought that, “if Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is true, then I will remain in his Jama’at if it means paying the chanda, attending meetings and giving speeches in defence of the Khilafat”. No matter what I think of individual Ahmadis or my feelings about the glorification of Huzoor and his being surrounded by guards 24/7 and driving around in a supercar… These are simply the worldly rewards of leading a pious life.

Credit where it's due

The one piece of credit that I can give to AGJ is that he led me to a path of questioning Ahmadiyyat as a whole. My parents started to listen to his lectures and watched his Friday Sermons. They gained enough confidence to accept his Bai’at. My Dad attended an Islah Pasand Jalsa in the UK on his own. Along the way he managed to convert my grandmother, Uncle and Aunt to this sect. When my Dad came back, he told us stories about intellectuals in this new Jama’at. Around this time, I had been going through a bit of a crisis of faith, but I still respected Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as an extremely vital scholar of his age.
Later, I became a bit of a religious zealot and wanted to read the books of the Promised Messiah. In June 2018 I started with Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya. I finished parts I & II in one night (it is a very short volume). In these volumes, I found many references to three hundred incontrovertible, rational arguments for the divine origin of the Holy Qur’an which was just a bit annoying to keep reading if I am honest. These parts are like 137 pages long and part II is literally a preface to the entire rest of the book. Continuous mention of a Rs. 10,000 reward for anyone who can produce a book of the same standard seemed a bit ostentatious to me. Given that the quality or standard of literature is extremely subjective. If someone did, for instance, produce three hundred incontrovertible, rational arguments for the divine origin of the Baghavad Gita – I’m not so sure he would have given away his estate.

The Jalsa

I was encouraged to visit Germany for their Jalsa. I flew there with my family. We visited his place and it was about 1am in the morning. It was like going to some distant relative’s house who you don’t know too well. This continued for an hour and then we left for the hotel. Around 9am we were dropped off at this centre and there were a few people there. Over time, this increased to 30 or so. There was this one older guy (I won’t name his out of respect for their privacy) who kept talking with me about how Ahmadis are so illogical etc. I felt like I had no right to be there. All these people had joined because they had extensive readings of the Promised Messiah. But all they talked about how great it is that I’ve joined the true Jama’at of the Promised Messiah.
There was a Q & A session which was 3 hours long. When I was listening to the questions, it felt like the people asking the questions had full knowledge of the answers. One guy even asked about the Musleh-Maud prophecy and prefaced the question with something like “we already know the answer but…” So, I was thinking that this is literally an echo chamber to substantiate their pre-existing beliefs. This isn’t a very healthy kind of environment to be in. Though asking questions was very much encouraged, I wasn’t sure about the kind of response that I would receive. I was sat with my Uncle and I was speaking with him about his views. I said to him “I’m not so convinced about this stuff”. He said, “what do you mean?” I said “Well he’s saying that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s Jama’at was messed up only like 6 years after his death. So, what’s the point in all of this?” he replied, “that’s a good point and started talking to me about Victory of Islam and how he is working on some plan to unite the entire Ummah.” I sarcastically said, “sure”. So, I got the courage to get up and ask him a question along the lines of:
“If corruption was spread throughout the Jama’at of the Promised Messiah just 6 years after his death, then what kind of protocol or plan do you have in place so that after you, your Jama’at stays on the path of Allah, the Holy Prophet and the Promised Messiah?”
He said that my question was valid, and that these problems would continue throughout human life so long as Nafs (ego) continued to exist inside the people. So, Allah sends his prophets, but the problems are the fault of the humans who don’t receive clear instructions. I would say that his answer was honest. But really… hearing that, made me doubt religion more. Isn’t Messiah supposed to cancel the Jizya, break the cross and kill the swine? Don’t these people exist as signs for the end times? Isn’t the world supposed to end after the Imam Mahdi and Isa arrive? And yet the Imam Mahdi has arrived over a century ago and Isa himself is back on the Earth and all he is doing is posting YouTube clips about how the false Promised Son has loads of money and it upsets him. This is the kind of thing that puts me off prophecies. There is so much legroom to interpret, that any single thing could allow the prophecy to be fulfilled.
No one can doubt that the Jama’at had its Golden Age under the auspices of Khalifatul Masih II. But the glad tidings of a Promised Son problem that I had could not be reconciled to be honest. And I didn’t see AGJ as a suitable replacement.

Analysis of Claims

So, AGJ claims to be the Mujaddid of the 15th Century. I cannot really dispute this because it is a kind of general claim that anyone can make if they focus their work on the “true Islam”. But it is also confusing because previous Mujaddids didn’t really claim to be such before Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. This was something attributed to them after their deaths. Like “oh Shah Waliullah must have been the Mujaddid of the 12th century”. Perhaps there can be multiple Mujaddids in one age. Anyways, this is not falsifiable until we all die and find out.
Secondly, the 1886 announcement of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad states that the Promised Son will be from his progeny (tukham). AGJ claims this is a bit misleading because this means spiritual progeny (as opposed to physical). He justifies this by quoting the verse in the Qur’an:
“Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets; and Allah has full knowledge of all things.” (Qur’an 33:41 Ahmadi Referencing).
Which can be coupled with the Hadith in ibn-Majah which I will paraphrase: “…if [Ibrahim] had lived he would have been a Siddiq and a Prophet” (Ibn-Majah Volume 1, Book 6, Hadith 1511). He says that this illustrates that hereditary Prophethood in Islam has no basis. In the Mosaic dispensation a relative of the previous Prophet would usually take the mantle of Prophethood. An example would be the Prophethoods of Moses and Aaron (who were brothers). So, his apologists say that this proves that the Muhammadan dispensation of Prophets, mujaddids, Khalifas etc. cannot be hereditary because all the Holy Prophet’s sons died. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was merely the Muhammadi Maryam (Mary-like figure for Islam) who “gave spiritual birth” to the Messiah (AGJ). Surah Hud provides some insight into this idea as well,
“And Noah cried unto his Lord and said: ‘My Lord, verily, my son is of my family, and surely Thy promise is true, and Thou art the Most Just of judges’ (46) He said: ‘O Noah, he is surely not of thy family; he is indeed a man of unrighteous conduct. So ask not of Me that of which thou hast no knowledge. I advise thee lest thou become one of the ignorant (47).’”
Here, Allah consoles Noah that his son was not his family because he was a disbeliever and didn’t join his father on the Ark. And so a son is one that carries the legacy and not necessarily physical progeny. So, more definitions essentially. Again, this is not falsifiable so I will leave it at that.
The third claim is one that I can apply more analysis to because there are actual apologetics by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. AGJ’s most controversial claim is that he is the Messiah ibn-Maryam and that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was confused about his actual claim. He takes this claim back and forth sometimes (he mostly calls himself Zaki Ghulam Masih-uz-Zamaan probably through not wanting to be scrutinised harshly by non-Ahmadi muslims). I find this to be quite ridiculous. The following passage illustrates that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had a full understanding of the concepts of Mahdi and Messiah. This is from a segment of Barahin V called “Laying to rest some doubts” which is a dialogue between Syed Muhammad Abdul Wahid (SMAW) and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad:
SMAW- “With regard to the Promised Mahdi, there are found in some ahadith words such as ‘from among the progeny of Fatimah’, and ‘from my progeny’, and ‘from among the people of my household’, and it is also written ‘his name will be my name, and the name of his father will be that of my father’. Please explain what is meant by each of them.”
MGA—"My claim is not that I am the Mahdi who conforms to the progeny of Fatimah, from my progeny, etc. Rather, my claim is that of being the Promised Messiah, and regarding the Promised Messiah, there is no statement of any muhaddith [scholar of hadith] that he would be from among the progeny of Fatimah etc. Nevertheless, at the same time—as every muhaddith says—I also say that all the ahadith regarding the Promised Mahdi are moot and suspect and not one of them is authentic. The degree to which fabrication has taken place in these ahadith has not taken place in any other hadith. During the time of the Abbasid Khulafa’ etc. the Khulafa’ were very fond of pronouncing themselves the Promised Mahdi. So, for this reason, some ahadith describe the Mahdi as being from the progeny of ‘Abbas and some from the progeny of Fatimah. There are some ahadith which also say that ‘He will be a man from my Ummah.’ But essentially all of these ahadith are not worthy of any trust. This is not just my word; all eminent scholars of the Ahl-e-Sunnah have been saying the very same. As opposed to these ahadith, this hadith recorded by Ibn-e-Majah is very authentic: there is no other Mahdi; ‘Isa is the very same Mahdi who is to come.” (Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya pt. V: English Translation, Laying to rest some doubts, pg. 477-478, 2018)
Which is interesting in many ways: First, practically every hadith that you read about Mahdi being from the Ahl-ul-Bayt and the progeny of Fatimah is graded either Hasan (good) or Sahih (authentic). It starts to get problematic when the hadith about Mahdi become more detailed, that’s where they become da’if (weak). Second, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad uses the following to justify with a physical sign that he is the Promised Messiah and Mahdi:
“For Our Mahdi, there are two Signs which have never appeared before since the creation of the heavens and the earth, namely, the moon will be eclipsed on the first night of Ramadhan and the sun will be eclipsed on the middle day, and these signs have not appeared since God Created the heavens and the earth.” (Sunan Darul Qutni)
We all know about this hadith. The hadith is talking about the Mahdi who, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said, is a fabrication. But he says that the eclipses are a sign of his [Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s] truthfulness. Okay but in Barahin V he says he’s claiming to be the Messiah and not Mahdi. “Isa and Mahdi are the same”. Yeah but you just said that Mahdi doesn’t exist. Furthermore, this hadith is attributed to al-Daraqutni.
What’s the problem? Well... it is historically well-known that Daraqutni contains many da’if and moudu’ (fabricated) hadith. This is not at the fault of Daraqutni himself as his purpose for writing his Sunan was so that there was a reference book for these kinds of hadith so they could be spotted. But this makes it very difficult to separate the authentic from the fabricated. Looking more closely at the hadith, the Holy Prophet states that this phenomenon “has not appeared since God created the heavens and the Earth” and that this is a sign for the Mahdi. Although total solar and total lunar eclipses in the same month are extremely rare, they have in fact occurred in Ramadhan (rarer still) and on the appointed days as early as 283 AH.
So, was there also a Mahdi present at that time? If the Mahdi is a fabrication, the attribution of this as a sign to MGA is illogical because it’s not a legitimate hadith according to himself. If the Mahdi is authentic, the attribution of this as a sign for MGA is still illogical because he claims to be the Promised Messiah and not the Mahdi. One could say that the classical scholars mixed up the two characters and this was supposed to be a sign for the Messiah, but that would require substantial evidence. Interestingly, I read somewhere that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said that he would pay so many Rs. if someone could prove that this hadith is fabricated. It is impossible to prove whether someone said something if that person is not present to verify it. But if you have multiple accounts of someone saying something, then that is more reliable representation of that person’s speech.
Finally, there is a strange footnote in Haqiqatul-Wahi where Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claims that he is not of Mogul descent but is rather Persian and some of his grandmothers were Sayyeds (Haqiqatul-Wahi English translation, footnote 1, sub-footnote, pg. 103-104, 2018). Well, what is a Sayyed? A Sayyed is one who claims direct descent from the Holy Prophet through his grandchildren Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn who of course were the children of… Ali and Fatimah. So, a Sayyed is one who claims to be from the progeny of Fatimah. Here lies an inconsistency. He could have easily used this to leverage his claim of being the Mahdi. So why didn’t he? He, in fact, did in many ilham and announcements which you can find in books such as Tadhkirah and looking at the original sources in the books he wrote. My preferred strategy is to download a pdf copy in Acrobat Reader and searching for keywords such as "Mahdi". A significant portion of Haqiqatul-Wahi is dedicated to refuting his interlocutors about why he is the Mahdi.
Essentially, there is a myriad of evidence which shows that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed to be the Messiah and Mahdi, though I am not so sure why he retracted this later in Barahin V [Edit: u/SeekerOfTruth432 in the comments has clarified that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad didn’t redact the claim of being Mahdi in Barahin V but he claimed that some hadith are fabricated and so are not legitimate hallmarks of the Mahdi]. This shows, at least that, AGJ is in the wrong about Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his supposed confusion. So there is a contradiction in his and in Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's claims.

Some supplementary beliefs

It is also said that Allah had told AGJ that he would marry KMIV’s daughter (the one referred to before) and if this didn’t happen then he would incur Allah’s displeasure. That’s why she was divorced according to him. So Muhammadi Begum pt. II. He also offered a Mubahila (prayer duel) with KMV & Co. and he was supposed to die or something (clearly didn't happen). He also has a cute slogan which is “Freedom for All, Slavery for None”. He has written this book called Virtue is God which is supposed to be a response to Socrates' Virtue is Knowledge idea. There is also a deadline on his reign to which he says he is going to unite the entire Muslim Ummah, live for a few years and then he will die in 2028.

Final notes

Anyways, this situation had fragmented my relationship with my mum quite a bit, even though she means the world to me. There was constant guilt-tripping about not accepting the Imam of the Age and it had a terrible effect of my self-esteem. Though we are in a good place right now and we constantly talk about religion and Ahmadiyyat and there is a lot more understanding between us. My mum is nothing but a pious and god-fearing woman and I have the utmost respect for the extent of her belief, but I have to call out logical inconsistency when I see it.
I really appreciate the support (from the ex- and questioning Ahmadis) and the scrutiny (from the well-intentioned Ahmadis) I receive here. It really helps me to look at my arguments more objectively to make sure that I am being representative in my analysis of people’s beliefs. I apologise for the length of this post, some of the quotes were quite long and the narrative and explanations of my views were probably long-winded but that is just what learning to be a writer is like. I would like to leave you with the following quote and parting words:
We take our inspiration, not from the sky and the unseen, but directly from life itself-- Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
Truly the only certainty in this life is that we are born and will one day die.كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ. But what we do in between is how we are remembered after we are gone and it is critical to the legacy and values we leave to our children.
Peace be upon you and thank you for your readership.

Football is back on, which means a resurgence in Match Betting. Here is A Short, Handy Guide to Making £500 for a rainy day.

Putting this out there once more for those who missed it last month.
You can use a separate, virtual bank account for all your match betting, In this way your main banking information is not shared with any of the sites you sign up to. A good one to use is Monzo, the app is easy to use and it only takes 5 minutes to open an account. It's free to open an account and last I checked they actually have a referral scheme where you get £5 if you sign up through a referral link.
Non Referral here: https://monzo.com/

Bonus Promo Codes for Bingo

I have found that when you use some bonus promo codes for bingo that you can get a new customer sign up bonus offer promotion from an online bookmaker that would not be available by going to a bookies website directly,so it made perfect sense to me to use a promo code on the registration form whilst signing up to create a new player account and i must admit that i was quite surprised at the huge choice of bingo games that i could play online.

The Premier League is back tomorrow, which means a resurgence in Match Betting. Here is A Short, Handy Guide to Making £500 for a rainy day.

Putting this out there once more for those who missed it last month.
It's the same process again, You find a game that has very close odds on both the bookies and the exchange ( You can do this by eye or by using odds matching software.
