I would say that I'm relatively new to Reddit and the one thing that surprised me is the number of people that still play on Bovada, Ignition, Betonline, MyBookie, etc. Don't get me wrong, great sites for sports betting and poker, but absolutely horrendous when it comes to slots and live casino games. Hitting 1,000x on a slot on Bovada is like a once in a lifetime achievement and the live dealer provider is... awful. Over the past month or so, I have seen this Reddit flooded with random users promoting a bunch of shitty no-name crypto casinos that have been around for like 3 days. So I figured it was my duty, as somebody who has no ownership interests in any of these online crypto casinos, to share my thoughts regarding the ones that I believe are trustworthy. All of which is based on first-hand experience and countless hours of research. First off, for those who aren't familiar with crypto casinos, the one thing that you need to know, as an American, is that you'll need to access these sites via a VPN. Personally, I use ExpressVPN and connect to Canada (or various other regions depending on which slot provider is available). The nice thing about ExpressVPN is that you can download the app and play on your phone. All of the casinos listed below allow VPN usage. Apparently NordVPN is pretty good too, but I cannot vouch for them personally. Second thing, KYC is not required. Honestly haven't looked into this too much, but I can tell you from first-hand experience that KYC is not required in order to register or withdraw funds. All you have to do is confirm your email address. Some people have said you get KYC'd if you try to withdraw more than $2k, but again, I can confirm that it's not true (specifically for the casinos listed below). Just make sure that you only deposit/withdraw via crypto and you'll be fine. If you think this is sketchy, then please, continue making your credit card deposits at Bovada to random shell companies based out of China. Also, DO NOT USE COINBASE TO TRANSFER TO AND FROM THE CASINO. They banned me. It hurt. Don't make the same mistake. I recommend using BRD as an intermediary between Coinbase and the casino. Since being banned from Coinbase, I have been using crypto.com to buy and sell crypto. Nothing but good things to say thus far. Finally, I have wagered roughly $3.5MM in total across the sites below and have spent countless hours researching them, so I'd like to think that I somewhat know what I'm talking about. In no way am I an expert and in no way am I a high roller or a whale. Just a regular guy that enjoys gambling. Now the common theme amongst the below casinos is that you have access to game providers such as Evolution (live games), Pragmatic, NetEnt, Thunderkick, Push, etc. that you'll never find on the casinos advertised as available to US players (such as Bovada). As I'm sure you know, Betsoft slots can get old after a while. Just a few of my personal favorite games that I recommend you check out... Live Games: Crazy Time, Monopoly, Evolution Blackjack and Evolution Speed Baccarat Slots: Dead or Alive 2, Money Train 2, Lil' Devil, Sweet Bonanza and The Dog House Site #1: Roobet.com (Best for casual gamblers) What I like: Instant withdrawals, huge selection of slots and live games, generous rakeback system, instant bitcoin deposits (they will credit your account before receiving any confirmations-- this is really nice), every so often they'll run a 24 hour promotion where if you hit 100x on slot betting at least $1 you'll be "King Roo" (basically King of the Hill) and accumulate ~$20 per minute until you're dethroned What I don't like: Rakeback system only allows you to collect every 24 hrs/1 week/1 month, no clarity surrounding VIP status (assuming you need to be a whale), there was one instance where I won $36k on a $40 bet playing Reactoonz and was told I can only withdraw $10k per day (this was 6 months ago and never had an issue withdrawing since), lack of sports betting My largest withdrawal (at once): $9.9k Deposit/Withdrawal Methods: BTC, ETH Referral link to enable rakeback system without having to wager a shitload: https://roobet.com/?ref=hkgambler13 (you can also use code "hkgambler13") Site #2: Stake.com (Best for medium-high rollers) What I like: Instant withdrawals, huge selection of slots and live games, incredible VIP and rakeback system (weekly/monthly bonuses, rakeback can be claimed whenever, daily/monthly challenges to earn extra cash), active and friendly chat community, multiple crytpo deposit options where your account is credited in that currency (meaning your balance equivalent in USD will swing with the market-- could be seen as a con), enjoyable "Stake Original" games that have a higher RTP than 3rd party slots, averages ~2k users online at any given time What I don't like: Can be overwhelming for first time players (Roobet is much more straight forward and easy to use) My largest withdrawal: $13.2k Deposit/Withdrawal Methods: BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, BCH, XRP (highly recommend-- cheap transfer fee, if any at all, and confirmed within seconds), TRX, EOS Referral link to instantly enable 10% rakeback: https://stake.com/?c=6c2f1c60 Site #3: Gamdom.com (Best for gamers) What I like: Instant withdrawals, huge selection of slots and live games, newly implemented rakeback system, constant "rains" in the chat (which is free money if you join in time), ability to instantly deposit and withdraw via Rust and TF2 items (could spend an hour talking about this-- generally caters to those who cannot get crypto or have to use a CC to buy crypto), averages ~1.5k users online at any given time What I don't like: Prior to the newly implemented rakeback system rains and level-up chests were the only "rakeback", your balance is denominated in coins (1500 coins = $1 USD), browsing through their slot selection can be a pain in the ass My largest withdrawal (at once): $7.4k Deposit/Withdrawal Methods: BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC Referral link to receive a free chest that could be worth up to ~$53: https://gamdom.com/chase (you can also use code "chase") Final parting words: PLEASE DO NOT GAMBLE WITH MONEY THAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE. Gambling is not a money making method and you will lose in the long run. The purpose of my post is to make those aware that other trustworthy online casinos are available for Americans that will (hopefully) make gambling online a bit more enjoyable!

I have a ton of stories from my days of dealing in the underground clubs in New York. I now live in Vegas and work here full time in the poker industry. I often get asked by the players here in Vegas to tell some stories of my club days. Maybe poker will find it interesting as well. This all started in 2006. Fox's Club - 1.1 A bit of some background about me -- I basically grew up in the poker world. My grandmother was a playedealer decades ago (her boyfriend ran a large club in Queens, NY) and she started teaching me 7 Stud, 5-Card Draw Hi, and NL Hold'Em starting when I was 6 years old. We would play with a cheap Hoyle chipset she had purchased from the local grocery store. Occasionally, I even beat her — I’ll never be sure to this day if she let me win, but I’ll always hold those memories close. Poker was something we always did together and did often. It would be unusual to see my Grandma without a deck of cards on her. As I got older, my whole family would play together. When I reached middle and high school, I would host multi-table $20-$50 buy-in tournaments at my house and there would be about 40-50 of us at my house playing poker, socializing, eating, and doing what kids do. We were all terrible and had no idea what we were doing, but we were all having fun and little did I know it, but I was getting a taste of what was to come in terms of my career later on in life. When I hit 16 years old, a friend of mine from high school — Joey — who had gone off to college in Queens at St. John’s had come back home for the summer. He had been introduced to a very large and popular underground club in College Point, NY. At the time, he was making a regular income from playing small stakes MTT’s on Full Tilt instead of having a regular job during college, and naturally found his way into live poker. This was my first introduction to the underground poker world. In addition to playing online with him, I accompanied him and a couple of his college buddies one night to play $1/$3 NL at a live underground club. I was able to play because I had made some substantial money from running and eventually selling my own web hosting business while in high school. My other passion that I had started learning from a very young age was computer programming. I was coding in Visual Basic by 11 years old because a friend of my father’s, who was a software developer, had decided that I had shown some aptitude for the field and took an interest in mentoring me. I was lucky to have been given the opportunity of his time, teachings, books, etc. Anyway, off we went to Fox’s Club — Fox was the connected mob guy who owned the club. The game was protected and everyone knew it. It was a very social place. If you’ve ever been to an underground club, then you know that the quality of the customer service and experience can vary greatly from game to game. Fox’s game was the creme of the crop, it was absolutely top notch. It ran everyday, night and day. It was located in a large, multi-story industrial lot which sat right near a main intersection, which meant lots of traffic — a very good thing because the traffic to and from the game just blended in with the usual activity. When you pulled in, you could park anywhere you wanted out of the tens of dozens of spots. It didn’t matter where you parked anyway — I’ll get to why in a minute. Then, you would walk upstairs to the 2nd story to come stop in front of a giant steel door with a buzzer and several cameras positioned in front. When you rang the bell, they’d ask you who you were, you’d tell them how and who invited you, and in a minute or two you’d be buzzed in through the first steel door. After entering, you’d come to a second steel door with another camera positioned in front, which only opened from the inside. When you finally entered the room, it was gorgeous — clean, large, comfortable, and was equipped with everything you wanted in a club. A full-sized kitchen, multiple clean bathrooms (one even had a shower), a lounge area, a high limit room, waitresses, a bunch of large flat screen TV’s, and a smoking room among other things. The first thing you’d notice was that they had 6 high-quality poker tables paired with executive chairs, not including the one in the high-limit room. This club was spacious. As you walked in, a valet would ask for your keys and he would go fetch your vehicle and park it in an organized fashion amongst the others. You’d then make your way over to the podium and tell the floor which game you wanted to play — they usually had at least several games going — $1/$3, $2/$5, and $5/$10 NL and higher when it ran, but the much higher games were much more private. Strapped with $1,000 in cash on me, I request a seat in the $1/$3 game and eventually make my way onto the table. The max buy-in was $500, which I opted for because most stacks at the table were deep. It didn’t really matter anyway — this was my first time playing in an underground poker club and I was nervous as hell. I didn’t know how to act, was totally naive to my safety, I was 16 years old and I was clearly “the kid” in the club. I remember winning one of my first pots, and a mid-30’s Asian guy sitting next to me taps me on the shoulder. “Aren’t you going to tip the dealer?” “What do you mean? Are we supposed to do that?” “Of course, they work on tips. When you win a pot, toss them a buck, if it’s a big pot then maybe a redbird or two.” “Oh, uh… I see… I’m sorry, I didn’t know…” and I toss the dealer a buck. Over the course of the summer and playing there a dozen or so times, I began to take notice how much these dealers were making. Back then, in this particular club, dealers were well taken care of and I managed figure out that they were pulling in at least $1,000 per shift depending on their duties and how long they spent in the box. Some guys had multiple roles, would often spend time on the phone with players, some would work the cage area, some would floor other times, etc. The questioned then dawned upon me — why am I risking my money playing this game, when I could learn how to deal it and be guaranteed to make money without any risk? That was when I started to become friendly with Big Mike — one of the regular dealers. I wanted to deal and I wanted a job there… How was I going to make this happen? How could I pass up learning how to make $1k a night at a job that looked like it could be a lot of fun? To be continued… Fox’s Club — 1.2 Thinking about it now, the thought of a 16 year old kid wanting to learn how to deal poker in an underground club and actually turning out to be good at it… is just plain hilarious. But, I was determined to learn this skill, and even though I was a little naive about it, I made a promise to myself that I was going to study poker and poker dealing. When you’re that young, the problem is that your brain is not yet fully developed and no matter how mature and intelligent someone of that age can be, the fact remains that they have yet to gain “wisdom” — the kind which can only be acquired through time. I say this because I grossly underestimated the amount of time on the felt it really takes to become a solid, “A”-Dealer. But again, I had drive and determination to learn how to deal. I became friendly with Big Mike, got his phone number, and would text him whenever I wanted to come down to the club. I let him know that I wanted to learn how to deal and asked him how he learned. He told me that he had went to dealer school. I didn’t know such a thing existed. He wasn’t too enthusiastic about me learning how to deal, he said I was too young and didn’t know the game well enough yet. I came to the conclusion that Big Mike wasn’t going to help me, and sure enough, he never did in that regard. I kept him as a poker contact and would eventually be invited to other games and clubs by him, something that could be really helpful later on. With Big Mike not wanting to teach me, my plan was to go to Fox’s to play, and when I wasn’t in a hand I was going to study what the dealer was doing — what he did with his hands, how he shuffled, what he said, what he was constantly doing with the chips in his rack? This was how I discovered rake, by the way. I didn’t even know what rake was. At Fox’s, everybody paid $5 per half when the dealers would make their push. I thought that that was how they were making their money. What I didn’t know was that they were also taking a rake. There wasn’t a gator or dropbox for the rake. It didn’t sit out openly in front of the players as it does in casino card rooms. The dealer would quickly take out chips from the pot and they would go right into the well. Every half, the dealer that was pushing in would replace the well with the one they were carrying. The first time I saw the rake being taken, I was puzzled by what was happening and didn’t know what was going on. No-one else at the table ever seemed to say anything or even acknowledge it so I figured it must be okay. When I saw Big Mike go into the smoking lounge for his break, I got up from the table and went inside to ask him about it. He then educated me about rake and what it was. I was dumbfounded. This place must be making a sh*tload of money. 10% of the pot up to $25? I started to do the math on all the tables running, the time being taken every half hour, an average pot size for an average rake amount, and came up with an impressive number. Damn, what a lucrative business to be in. During the time I spent watching the dealer, I picked up lots of little things here and there, but ultimately just watching was not enough. I needed some proper instruction. I also knew I needed to learn how to “deal” the cards the way Big Mike did with that flick of his fingers — not knowing at the time that it was called “pitching the cards”. All of this information. All of these techniques. There must be some resources and information on poker dealing on the internet, right? I mean, if Big Mike went to a school that teaches how to deal poker, then there must be some info on where to go. I’d later on make a discovery that would make a huge impact on my life. So, I decided that moving forward, I was going to focus on getting better at the game while I spent my time at Fox’s. Maybe Big Mike was right. Maybe I didn’t know the game well enough yet. Instead of trying to learn how to deal there, I’ll just play the game and try and win as much money as I can. This didn’t turn out so well, however, as I was not yet a competent player. I had no live experience — I was very easy to read, made the mistake of engaging in table talk and failing at every verbal jousting I took part in, and I hadn’t yet been a real student of the game. I was learning the hard way through trial and error, which of course cost me tons of money. I didn’t always lose, because I wasn’t an idiot and was intelligent enough to realize that there actually is a skill component to this game. The Asian guy (from Part 1) in his mid 30’s, the one who politely taught me about tipping dealers, turned out to be a pretty cool guy. His name was Andy. When we first officially met, he asked me about which college I was going to and what major I was studying. “So, you in college? What are you studying?” “Actually, I’m still in high school. I haven’t decided yet which school I want to go to. I still have a couple of years left.” “What? How old are you, buddy?” “I’m 16, I’ll be 17 after the summer.” “So you can’t even drive, yet? Is that why you always come by with a friend?” “Yeah, I’m still saving up for a car. I think I’m gonna buy a used Mazda 6.” He was curious about where I was getting all of this money I had to play with at the tables. I told him about my computer background and web hosting business. He was impressed and I had earned his respect. He told me that he had initially thought that I was just another one of the college kids that came by to play — money from their parents, or playing with the extra college loan money that was left over and sent out as a check to students who got loans. We developed a kind of student-teacher relationship. He smoked a ton of cigarettes, and every time he did, I would join him in the smoking lounge and he would tell me his thoughts on how I played certain hands, point out mistakes I made, give me positive reinforcement on things I was doing correctly, pull me off the table when I would start to tilt, and overall just looked out for me. Andy was a very good player as well, judging by the fact that he consistently won and could always give me a logical reason and argument to why I should do things a certain way. Other people who tried to teach me the game would say things like “You should have raised on the turn”, and when I asked “Why?”, I would always get the same response — “Because you lost the hand”. That made no sense at all to me. That’s not an answer, it doesn’t answer the question at all. That’s just another way of saying that if I was a psychic and could predict the future, the way I could have won the hand was by knowing what the outcome was and making the right play. Andy would say things like “You should have raised on the turn”, and when I asked, “Why?” He would say things like “Well, why did you decide to call instead of raise? Did you even consider raising at all? Did you consider folding? What did you think he was betting into you with? You had a set of 9’s on a board that had one broadway card and two flush draws”. That was when I realized that I wasn’t even thinking much about what the other guys had, I was just playing my own cards and when I didn’t make hands, I would try and bluff, sometimes successfully and sometimes not so much. I was starting to learn the game from a thinking player’s perspective. Andy had been playing poker for a long time already and was an underground grinder. After graduating from college with a degree in finance, he got a job at some firm but eventually left to pursue poker. Between his investments and playing poker full time, that was how he made his income. He played in tons of games and clubs all around New York and was what you would call an underground pro. At the time, if you were a competent player, it was quite easy to make money in those games. There were tons of fish and people who would literally donate money. In the beginning, I was one of them. So were Joey and his college buddies. Joey was a decent online MTT player — skilled enough to consistently cash in small tournaments — but he wasn’t very good at playing cash games. Especially live cash games. He was too easy to read. So was I — absolutely awful at hiding tells, let alone knowing what those tells were. I remember one particular session at Fox’s where I was running like God. I had turned $500 into nearly $4,000. I was getting super lucky, super quickly. I’ll never forget this session as it was the first time I walked out of Fox’s with a huge wad of cash in my pocket. And it started off with the first hand I played that night. I always waited to play until I was in the big blind, something Andy advised me to do, as you couldn’t come in for free behind the button, not that I even knew what that was at the time. Forgive my recollection of this hand, it’s rough at best, it was over a decade ago, but it was the first time I saw how brutal poker could be. There was a raise to $15, a re-raise to $50, a call, another call, and I look down in the big blind at T9ss. I was still superstitious at the time and always played my first hand, no matter what it was. So I called and the original raiser called as well. 5 players. The flop comes TT9 with two clubs, and I check. There’s a bet of $150, then the next guy jams, the next guy also jams, another all-in, and at this point I remember thinking to myself — holy sh*t — I quickly call, so does the guy in front of me. I then turn my hand over. What does it matter? Everybody is all in, give me the money baby! Everyone else follows suit, and tables their holdings wondering what the hell is going on here. We’ve got a 5-way all-in, something I’d never seen before — AK of clubs, pocket aces, pocket 9’s, and QJ, which I’m fairly sure was suited. I’d be lying if I told you what happened after this point. My body was overflowing with adrenaline. The dealer does his work and the next thing I know I have $2.5k in front of me and some really pissed off people sitting next to me. As the session continues, within the next few orbits I manage to pick up pocket aces and pocket kings, stack two players, and it was at this point that I had around $4,000 in front of me. Like I said, running like God. Then, it happened. Thinking I was invincible, I re-raise a guy with 64o. The flop comes A44. The guy bets and I just go all-in, not knowing what else I could do. He then tanks for a minute, and says to me, “You’re really that lucky huh? You got that 4 don’t you?” I remember just smiling like a teenager who had just lost his virginity. “I don’t know what to tell you man, but yeah, I do. I have 64”, as I shook my head “yes”. “I believe you.” And the guy open mucks AK. I show him the 64. I get shipped the pot, and then Andy says to come join him in the smoking lounge. I didn’t smoke, but my Mother had for years so it didn’t bother me much. “Why in the hell did you tell that guy what you had? You need to learn how to act composed at the table.” “I didn’t know what else to do. It didn’t feel right lying to the guy.” “That’s because you’re a good kid. This is poker, buddy. You can’t ever feel bad about taking someone’s chips, or else you’ll never succeed at this game.” “Well what should I have done then? What should I have said?” “For now, the next time that happens, don’t say a word. Just stare at the board until the other player makes a decision. You’re clearly not capable of table talk, yet. If you feel like you have to respond and can’t ignore the other player any longer, then just use my line and then tell him it’s on him.” “What’s your line?” “Well, I can’t lose if you fold.” And I’ll never forget that line. I still use it sometimes to this day. You have to understand that this happened back when you could actually engage your opponent verbally when it was heads up. Now, you can’t discuss the contents of your hand whatsoever. That era has ended and table talk is not what it once was. In my opinion, I firmly believe that this particular change in poker was not a positive one. It made poker really fun and really interesting. It was a large contributor to the social element of the game. And it felt really, really, good when you would successfully talk your opponent into making the move you wanted them to make. Andy continued smoking his cigarette while telling me I should cash out and go home with a huge win. “How much more money do you really expect to make? You’re way too deep now in this game where everyone is going to start shoving on you. Trust me, cash out and hang out until your friend is done playing so you can go home.” “What else am I supposed to do? Isn’t everyone going to get mad that I’m leaving?” “Who cares? Sit at the table and fold everything except Aces or Kings for the next hour. If you pick up one of those hands, just go all-in. Trust me, you have nothing more to gain and only something to lose if you continue playing. For the next hour, just watch everyone else and how they play and what they showdown. You might learn something.” And that’s exactly what I did. I folded every hand for the next hour, then cashed out. While I was hanging out and railing Andy and my friend who I came with, I realized that I needed to buy a poker table and the same type of cards they were using at Fox’s — they used KEM bridge size, jumbo index. Something I had learned about from picking Big Mike’s brain. I figured this would be a perfect time to invest in a real poker table, considering that I just cashed out $4k. Maybe I could start having cash games at my house with my friends and deal the game to practice? I already hosted tournaments at my house regularly, but never thought about hosting a cash game. Would my friends even want to play a cash game? What stakes would it be? I still need to figure out how I’m going to learn how to deal. Hmm, I’ve got some thinking to do. GTAO Invite Only lobby guide with a Section for StriclySolo players. Updated.
WIP. WorkInProgress. This is to highlight all the things that can be done in the game without being a public session. Public session stuff is well covered in other guides.
GTAO Invite Only lobby guide with a Section for StriclySolo players.
What is a solo player and why would anyone do that in a MMO?
GTAO is not strictly a MMO. Some people just do not derive joy from playing games with others. But would like to play in a immerseive online game where the content evolves and can have a shared experience. So some people chose to play solo. There are roughly 3 types of solo play.
StrictlySolo - This player will never want to play with another person ever. Pretty rare. But this guide will cover them.
MostlySolo - This player will occasionally play with others in Missions, heists, and public freeroam. MostlySolo might have the holy grail of solo setups. A 2nd Machine with which to play. This opens up a whole new world of solo play. The 2nd machine will be mostly idle or can just be a buddy in the other room who occasionally hits triangle (or equiv) to get in and out of vehicles. The 2nd playemachine can be classified as ActiveParticipant (a live other person who can participate) or DeadWeight ( a 2nd machine/console or a person who is idling.)
GroupSolo - Will prefer to only play solo but will occasionally play with a close group of friends or crew. Example would be someone who grinds crates alone then gets with others to do sales.
Jobs available to a StrictlySolo player in a Invite only session.
Contact Missions - There are 90+ that are available to one person working alone. For the full list see http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Missions_in_GTA_Online These pay $80K-$150K/hr depending on when you turn them in.
Casino Work
After purchasing a casino penthouse a user can call Ms. Baker to ask for jobs. These can be done in a invite only session. Either solo or with associates, in which case the missions can be scaled to have multiple objectives. These pay fairly low at about $10K-$15K per job, but they also sometimes pay in casino chips.
VIP Work
Sightseer - Hack the system to reveal packages. Collect 3 packages in 15 minutes using a hacking app on the phone. Pay is $18K-$25 depending on how quickly it is completed.
Asset Recovery - Retrieve a vehicle (usually a motorcycle) from either the Vespucci Police Station, La Mesa Police Station, Mission Row Police Station, Vinewood Hills Police Station, Sandy Shores Police Station, or Paleto Bay Police Station and deliver them to a drop off. Wanted level cannot be lost until close to the destination. Pays $5-$10K
Hostile Takeover - Retrieve a package from either the Altruist Camp, Fort Zancudo, LSIA, or Merryweather Base and take it to a location. After stealing the package you get a 3 star wanted level. Pays $15K-$25K.

Everyone wants to be special Everyone wants to be special: we are raised hearing that we are special, we grow fearing we are not special and one day we realize we really aren't and start to hope we will be. We never ask ourselves if being 'special' is something that we really want. There are many kinds of 'special' and most of them aren't exactly 'a good way to be special', in the end what we really want is a purpose, something to justify our existence, something to reassure us that we mean something. Let's talk about John Kanisky, he was special: he ended up being the only case in human history of a disease that never affected anyone else, a disease that is beyond rare and that has not even a name, he died suffering in atrocious ways. We could talk of Watanabe Keiichi: he was the first direct victim of an atomic bomb explosion. We could talk of Roy Sullivan: the man was struck seven times in seven different occasions by lightnings, the man in recorded history struck more times by the fury of Zeus. We could list many more special humans that we would not desire to emulate in their specialty: if we sum the grossly special and the tragically special we would realize that the 'happily special' are so rare that they defy the concept of 'special' and enter into the concept of 'unique'. Even our legends and folklore narrate of special people that have lived special existences that were truly horrific: all the chosen by some god or great spirit lived tragic lives, even mundane heroes became heroes only because they lived special tragedies and, most of them, became heroes in the moment of their heroic death. We know that being special is a good way to earn a great deal of suffering, all our history tells us this truth yet, we still want to be special. Probably on a subconscious level we realize that life is, in any case, about suffering and it is way better to suffer to be special than to suffer to be nobody. The question than is: if we want to be special what about the others? We look at everyone around us and we know, for a fact, that no one is special. We are driven to consider those not special in a detrimental way, that is why we have heroes, gods, celebrities... they are special and they are worthier than the masses, we even call them VIPs: Very Important Persons, meaning that they are important above the others, in other words that they are important and others aren't. Now we usually delude ourselves saying “a special person is more important than those not special” but, deep inside we know that we can't admit that there is no 'more important': you are important or you are not, if we were to admit this simple truth we would find ourselves in a very difficult spot, so we just ignore the logical issue and continue our lives trying to be special without worrying of what this makes of us on an ethical level. Someone may say “everyone is special”, a good way to avoid the issue of facing how selfish and deluded we are, that is like saying “everyone is taller” but, in the first case we would appear to be very empathetic and kind and altruistic, in the second case we would appear like idiots; to a more accurate analysis we can realize that both sentences are idiotic in the same way and there is nothing special in idiocy. Marina wasn't special and, for a change, she didn't even desire to be special, yet she could be special. Marina had an average troubled life, if it had to be written in a book the literary genre would be 'contemporary drama', yet there are billions with far worse lives, nevertheless her life was peculiar in one aspect: someone, against all odds, noticed her. Marina could have been created by a random generator, one of those found online, or maybe spawned by a bored writer without talent: she was raised by her mother, she had a troubled youth, ended up in the hands of social services, then did some time in a reformatory, then did some school working double shifts, dropped out of school when her mother got ill, ended up in a strip club, then in a cat fight club, then in hospital, then her mother died, she was evicted, then she lived on the streets for a couple of months and finally she started to pay the medical bills of her mother and hers working again double shifts. She doesn't have friends, worth mentioning, her sentimental life was and is sterile like a desert and completely meaningless, she drifts through life without expectations, without ambitions, she is a survivor. Now the question would be: why talk of her at all? A good question. As in every good story the protagonist isn't much until something or someone makes him special, that's usually when the worst begins. For Marina the worst began sometime ago, five years ago to be precise, when someone was given the task of finding, among the millions living in the area, someone with the exact profile of Marina. Marina didn't know that many of her troubles were not of her own making, she didn't know that someone was making her life even harder, she survived as always. What will be of her? Once was said that the journey is more important than the destination, I believe that the journey doesn't mean much until it gets to its intended destination, Marina is in transit, waiting to reach her unknown destination... The golf club was empty this early in the morning, only 2 men on a course followed by their caddies. The sun was bright, no clouds on the sky and the grass was still wet from the morning dew shining a vivid green. In the distance the skyscrapers were like gigantic monoliths of glass reflecting the blue of the sky and the burning solar globe, a mythic aura surrounded them, a sort of reminiscent feeling of the lost stone age when wise men raised similar structures inspiring awe and devotion into the unwise. “Thank you sir for this game.” “Don't mention it, I come here every Monday before going to work, I heard you liked golf and I told myself I could relax and have a chat with a promising man.” “Well I like the game but I am not exactly good at it...” “Don't worry! This game is so boring and stupid that the only sport in this is to walk with a stick in hand while someone else runs around getting the balls.” The first man was in his thirties, lean, perfectly trimmed, perfect posture, he was an handsome man, in his eyes a mix of anticipation and fear. The second man was slightly overweight, almost sixty years old, with a bald patch on his head and grayish hairs like a bay wreath around his head, he could have played the roman senator in any movie. “So how are you faring in the new office?” “Well sir, when I arrived I expected to be put in some kind of under stair, a closet or such, an office is an extremely welcome surprise!” “That office is so small you have to watch what you eat son, put on a few pounds and you will need a ton of lube to get inside and those two sharing it with you are the kind of people you want to stay light years away from.” “Mmm, why should I stay away from them? Not that I have a choice anyway...” “Because they stink of failure son.” The older man stopped and turned to face the younger one. “They are paper pushers, they have taken roots inside that moldy office, if you stay too much with them the stink of mediocrity will stick to you for the rest of your life! I hope you have some ambition son!” “Yes sir, I consider myself ambitious...” “Good!” the older man resumed his walk toward the next course, “Ambition is good, it's what differentiate man from worms. You have potential.” “Thank you sir.” “Your curriculum is spotless, you advanced quickly, so quickly that you had to do dirty things for sure.” The man placed a ball meticulously, took the club and got into position rising and lowering his eyes between the ball and the hole trying to judge the distance, the wind and the perfect trajectory to his goal. “I was only lucky, I always...” “Don't bullshit me son, I was in your shoes once: you do what you have to do to get on top, to move up the ladder. If needed you pull down the one above you, you cheat and say the right things, lick the right ass and if needed you give your ass or mouth to the right person. That is ambition!” The man stroke the ball with a mighty swing, as to underline his words. “Well sir, I am here.” The younger man smiled, he was gambling but he was confident. The older man laughed, his belly vibrating under the shirt. “Yes you are son.” he patted on the back of the younger man. “Yes you are! Well let's talk of serious stuff. You have potential and I know potential when I see it, there's a spot for someone like you, you aren't like all the others, you are like me! Well you are like me when I was your age, you have a great distance to cover before you can be like me. What do you say? Do you want to get to the upper floor?” The young man placed with care his ball mimicking the older man, he was good at noticing how people move and talk, how they think and especially what they expect from others. “Yes sir, I am astonished that I have been noticed so quickly and from a man like yourself.” “Good, keep at it, I like the feeling of a tongue between my buttocks.” The man laughed “Anyway tomorrow you get to the upper floor, remember you can do great things if you stick by me, I have great plans for you if you keep up the good job!” “Thank you sir.” He stroke the ball with a mighty swing. “I'll split the eights.” The casino wing of the Faestus was, as always, filled with people playing and throwing away their fortunes, waitresses moved professionally between the tables and the slot machines bringing trays with spumante, champagne, wine and cocktails to the customers. The lights of the games and the electronic sounds mixed with the laughs and cheers of the players were creating the unique concert typical of the casinos, the air was perfumed with scents specifically and scientifically designed to excite the mind and push customers to spend more money. The man was seated at a black jack table, dressed with a fine suite he was in his forties, he was quite inebriated and his face was red with both excitement and alcohol. He was the chief analyst of the finance board of a bank: his job was to tell the difference between a good investment and a bad one, predicting the odds of a gain or a loss, judging were money was likely going to flow, who was likely to be ruined or become rich, who was worth something and who was worth nothing, a gambler by trade and vocation. He had won a premium promotional ticket for a VIP night at the Faestus with five thousand dollars to spend in the casino. He always believed he was a winner and when the promotional tickets arrived at the bank he was sure he was going to win and now he was sure he would have left the Faestus with a good amount of free cash in his pockets. He had worked hard, endured much, God knows how much money he gained for others, now the wheel of fortune was turning in his favor, the blind mistress of fate was smiling and he didn't want to disappoint. “The dealer goes bust.” He exploded in a volcanic cheer, from the deepest of his chest his lungs contracted so quickly that his head felt light and dizzy. He was winning! “Thank you, I think I'll take a break.” The man was smiling so much, he couldn't help it: his cheeks were pulling his mouth on their own volition, he thought to himself 'I must look like an idiot' and the thought made him smile even harder. He seated on a stool at one of the many bars, waved his premium pass and ordered a Negroni, one last cocktail for the winner, the night was still young and he had already drank a lot, wouldn't be wise to spoil the night puking his soul in the bathroom. Two beautiful girls joined him at the bar: they were a mix of sensuality and grace with just the promise of kinky thoughts in their smiles. “Hello, what are you drinking?” “This? A Negroni I believe, I don't know what's inside it but it's good.” “Well then a Negroni for both of us.” The bartender quickly served the drinks, the two girls payed in cash with a hundred dollars bill. “We arrived in town just two days ago, this hotel is fantastic! We still have much to explore but we would like to see the city too. Are you a local?” “Yes, I live here. I mean not here in the hotel, in the city...” “Wonderful! So you can guide us to the local attractions!” “Uh... Well yes. There is much to see. Were are you from?” “We are from Russia. Her dad and mine are on a business trip and we tagged along.” “To dads' business trips then!” He rose his glass to toast. This truly was his night! Two beautiful girls in search of adventure, a wallet exploding with cash and a VIP pass for all the extra luxurious facilities of the most exclusive hotel/resort of the city! The night was humid, a light rain was falling on the city, on the cars small pearls of water shimmered under the city's lights. Jason was seated on the front passenger seat of his patrol car, his partner driving into the traffic and chewing an energetic bar. “You know what? I should ask her out.” Jason's partner was one of those body building zealots, always on a strict diet and always pumping their muscles, to Jason those kind of people reminded him of some kind of religious fanatics, fanatics of the Muscle God. “Why not? She is single, she seems nice enough.” “Yeah, I thought about it and who cares? Right? What's the worst that could happen? If she says 'no' it's not going to be the end of the world! I have plenty already to entertain my schwarzie... It's only that I would love to fuck her you know...” Jason couldn't care less but, that was his partner and you support your partner, no matter what. “With your muscles and charms I am sure she will not resist.” The patrol car waved in and out in the traffic moving quickly into a part of the town were police is notoriously unwelcome. Hostile gazes followed the car from the sidewalks. “And here we are...” Jason's partner pulled over in front of a pawn shop. The shop's window was behind an iron grate, on display various baubles, plates, chinas, even musical instruments and toys. The two cops got out of the car and strode toward the entrance. Jason wasn't a small guy, he was well built and fit but, compared to the amass of muscles of his partner he appeared almost insignificant. The door bell rang as the two entered into the shop, rows of scaffoldings filled the small room, the air was tick with the smell of grease, rubber and dust. Behind the counter a fat sweaty middle aged bald man raised his head from a clock he was intent fixing: he had strange glasses on his face with many lenses and what appeared to be some kind of magnifying apparatus, in his hands small metal tools completed the look of the mad doctor intent into some kind of terrible experiment on a living and unwilling subject. The man visibly became paler has he saw the two cops, his sweating increased. “Good evening my friend.” Jason's partner walked over the counter passing his hand on various objects on display. “Hello officers, how may I help you?” “Timothy you know what we want, it's that day of the month.” Jason surveyed the room, peeking behind the scaffoldings and the counter to check for trouble, when he was satisfied he started to get a look at the merchandise. “Already? Sorry I lost track of time...” “Ha! That is why you are messing with that clock?” “Oh, yes, exactly... hehehe...” The owner laughter was so strained that probably his conscious brain was fighting an epic battle against his reptilian brain that was screaming 'RUN!'. “So, you know the drill, as they say in the army, it is time to pay.” “Officer... I am... I...” “Hey Timothy, do I look like I give a fuck? 'I-I-I-I-I am' what the fuck man!” “Yes, well, I know that I shouldn't but, you see... I have been in a tough spot of late... I was wondering if I could pay you the next month...” “Timothy do I look like a charitable man?” Jason's partner grabbed the shirt of Timothy pulling him over the counter, his strange glasses fell and clanked; meanwhile Jason found something interesting: a nice big teddy bear of 40cm, his daughter would have loved it. “Listen officer there's no need to get angry, I'll pay I'll pay!” “Good.” Jason's partner released the owner that quickly ran to the cash register, fumbling with his hands he took a handful of bills and trembling he put it on the counter, Jason's partner casually picked up the ball of cash and pocketed it. “Wasn't so hard eh? See you next month Timothy.” “How much for the teddy bear?” Jason was holding the stuffed animal and looked like a normal customer, both Timothy and his partner had a puzzled look and were looking incredulously. “What? Can't I buy it?” Jason seemed completely out of place. “Yes officer, well for you is free, a present you know, thank you.” “If you insist, thank you Timothy.” Both cops went back into the patrol car, Jason carefully put the teddy bear on the back seat. To passersby the scene must have been comical: two cops arresting a giant teddy bear. “That Timothy is getting bolder and bolder, I don't like it. Next month we need to break a thing or two, just to remind him his place.” “I expected you to punch him, better now than later, if he gets the idea we are getting soft things are going to get ugly.” Jason was distant, in his mind he was already at home giving the teddy bear to his daughter, he was excited to see his little princess jumping around hugging the stuffed animal. “Yeah, maybe you are right... well next month... It's nice that bear you know? How's your family man?” Jason sighed “Mary is recovering, thank God the therapy is over, the doctors say she will be fine and she only needs to take a few pills and get checked every six months. My little princess is growing restless, with her mother feeling better she is now full of energies and almost trying to recover the time lost with her.” “I'm happy to hear that partner. I was scared shitless when you told me she had cancer.” “Yeah... well it's over now, I plan to try to take some vacation from work as soon as she regains her strength.” “You do, you need to relax man, you have earned it.” Jason was finally home: the house wasn't much but was a proper house of a respectable family, the garden on the front was a little bit wild but soon he would have had time to fix it. He parked and got out, took the teddy bear and went to the door, he rang the bell and knelt behind the bear. The door opened and Lucy froze, her eyelids beating quickly at the unexpected bear, than she launched herself on the stuffed animal. “Daddy!” Jason hugged both the bear and his daughter and rose on his feet: “My sweet special princess!” The SUV was moving fast, the woosh of passing streetlights was the only sound. Mr. Costanzo was seated in the passenger seat, thinking, remembering. It was unusual for him to dwell on the past, he was a man of action not a reflexive type, yet in the last few months he had been so busy that his brain was now finding some relax in his memories. He came from an humble family, grew in a difficult neighbourhood and risked a couple of times to end up in jail, the call to serve in the military had been a blessing: he learned discipline and found structure, when the time came he decided to stay and joined the special forces, there his nature wasn't a flaw but a resource, they nurtured his aggressiveness and taught him so much. After his first tour of duty on foreign soil he distinguished himself and was promoted and decorated, after the second one he was politely asked to resign to avoid issues with the press and public opinion after some ugly necessary operations. As soon as he arrived back home he immediately found work for a local family and again his skills and nature made him the top killer around. One day he received a work offer from a big shark and since then his life changed, he now was a supernatural killer, one of the best. He was shot at countless times, he was stabbed, beaten but, he never surrendered, he never took anything personally, was just part of his life to be a target for someone, the life of a predator is about killing or be killed, everything he was, everything he had he gained it through excellency in one of the oldest arts of humanity: murder. He once taught that he was wrong, some kind of monster or nature's mistake, with time he realized that nature had put a lot of effort to forge him, evolution gave him the tools to excel and he embraced his gifts. Civilized hypocrites shun those like him, they call them psychos, deranged but, when they were needed to protect the weak, to kill to protect the weak, they became heroes, after civilization used those heroes they quickly locked them away. Not him though. He found someone that appreciated his gifts, his skills and even gave him tools to improve them. This war was exciting, intriguing, so many enemies, so many dangers, so many chances to excel, to do what he was born to do.
GTAO Invite Only lobby guide with a Section for StriclySolo players.
Last update 2019 08 18 WIP.

I'm a marginally profitable recreational tournament player, but 98% of my play is in online micro and low stakes SNGs and MTTs, the rest is home games. Heading to Vegas next month and plan on playing in several of the various daily tournaments as listed on: http://www.allvegaspoker.com/tournaments.php My buy-in range will be between $45 & $75. The reviews of the rooms are pretty comprehensive at the link above, so my question is more about what I can expect play-wise in a live casino enviroment. For instance, heres a few of things I've been pondering: 1) What's the usual pre-flop bet size? 2) What rooms have a lower percentage of local regs vs. tourists (like me) 3) What are expectations for dealer tipping in a tourney? 4) How does table balancing work? I'm guessing the floor man just taps you on the shoulder and says, "You move there" or something? 5) Does any casino offer single table SNGs? Answers to these questions and any other pearls of wisdom from poker players with casino tourney experience gratefully received and dutifully upvoted.
